Cost: The estimated cost of the project is Rs. 15 billion

Project Details: Cost for coffer dam is Rs. 1.25 billion, cost for dock wall is Rs. 1.57 billion, cost for dock floor, crane beam & other allied works is Rs. 7.28 billion, cost for PMC @ 5% is Rs. 0.7 billion & cost for machinery, services & electrical is Rs. 4.2 billion. The company had already invited Expression of Interest (EoI) for providing client consultancy for the new dry dock project. According to the pre-feasibility report prepared by the company in association with SGS India, submitted to MoEF, the shipyard is developed in an area of 170 acres of which about 30 acres are set aside for development future expansion.

The proposed project shall be developed inside the existing land (15 acres out of 30 acres). The target customers for this facility are envisaged as the drilling rigs/ships which currently use Singaporean or yards at Middle East for repairs. In addition, ONGC is also envisaged as one of the key clients. The repair dry dock facility will be of size 320m x 75m x 13 m for handling of all types of rigs, aircraft carriers, capesize bulk carriers & general cargo ships, Aframax & Suezmax tankers, Panamax & Post Panamax type container ships and LNG carriers and is designed to carry out repairs and building of rigs. Depth of Dry Dock is 13m with 1.5m free Board. A total of 4,000 kVA will be required for the operation of new dry dock and other allied facilities. The company is now getting the entire power requirement from the Kerala State Electricity Board. The company is tied up with Kerala Enviro Infrastructure Limited (KEIL), which is approved by the State Pollution Control Board for the safe disposal of hazardous wastes. The development of the facility could be completed in 3 to 4 years.

Current Status: The current status of the project could not be ascertained.

Project: Plans to construct a solid waste treatment plant
Location: Brahmapuram, dist. Ernakulam, Kerala.
Consultant: KITCO
Project Detail: The new plant will be constructed by demolishing the existing plant at Brahmapuram. The Corporation is in discussion regarding the commencement of work.
Current Status: Work is expected to commence shortly. Other details are yet to be finalized.


Sree Narayana Mangalam Training College plans to construct Women’s Hostel in Kerala. Finalization of contractor is under process. Work on the project is likely to commence by May 2011 with completion scheduled by May 2012.

The Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore is setting up a 1.5 lakhs tpa gypsum production unit in Kerala with an investment of Rs. 100 crore, work on the project is nearing completion stage.
