NH bypass work: L&T wing wins bid

The National Highways Authority of India has awarded the four laning of the National Highway-66 bypass stretch from Mukkola to Karode in the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border to L&T Construction. The project will be undertaken in EPC mode under the third phase of the National Highways Development Project.
The scope of the project includes the maintenance of the developed stretch, 16.5 km, during the Defect Liability Period, which has been set at four years. The duration of the project will be two years. The total cost of civil construction work had initially been estimated at Rs.804.97 crore.

Steel Strips Wheels up on export order win

The order will cover supplies of about 17000 wheels with an order value of about USD 225000 and expects this order to repeat in near future. The wheels will be supplied from company’s Dappar and Chennai plants in India with the first supplies planned by end of mid of next month.

Arabian Construction wins Emaar s Jeddah project contract

Emaar Middle East has awarded the construction contract for its “Emaar Residences” in Jeddah Gate to Arabian Construction Co. Located in the heart of Jeddah Gate, it features three high-rises with 283 homes including penthouses. Drilling works for the project, launched late last year, have started. ACC is also the contractor for Emaar Square, a dedicated commercial precinct in Jeddah Gate, which is scheduled for handover later this year.

$3.7M grant awarded to Lake Erie wind turbine project

The U.S. Department of Energy has awarded a $3.7 million grant to a company doing engineering work on a proposed wind turbine project in Lake Erie.
Lake Erie Energy Development Corp. is aiming to build a 20MW demonstration wind farm in the lake northwest of downtown Cleveland. Current cost estimates are between $120 million and $128 million.
The DOE grant is the third the department has given LEEDCo, bringing the total in federal funding to $10.7 million.The department wrote in a memo to the Ohio congressional delegation that the additional funding will support the company’s offshore wind research and development progress.
The grant depends on a partnership between LEEDCo and a Norwegian wind developer that provides a $1.9 million cost share, bringing the total funding available to nearly $5.6 million. The company wants to have the wind turbines built and functioning by the end of 2018.

RTA awards Dubai road project contract

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority has awarded a major contract worth Dh178 million for the development of the second phase of Dual Carriageway of Seih Assalam Road Project. The scope of work includes extension of about 21 km of road from Al Qudra Round About up to the intersection of Dubai – Al Ain Road.
The project comprises widening of the existing road from Al Qudra R/A (nearby the Cycling Rest Area) up to the intersection with the Dubai – Al Ain Road through Al Lisaili and Al Marmoom, to make it a dual carriageway of two lanes in each direction.Project works also include street lights, rainwater drainage network, and rail along the median to fend off casual U-turns.

Emaar awards construction contract for project in Jeddah Gate

Emaar Properties has announced that its subsidiary has awarded the construction contract for its Emaar Residences project in Jeddah Gate. Regional builder Arabian Construction Co won the contract for the project from Emaar Middle East. The size of the deal was not disclosed.
Emaar Residences features three high-rise towers with 283 units. It offers one to four-bedroom apartments and penthouses (upper villas) ranging in size from 70 to 300 sq m. Some units also offer views of the Red Sea. Features include dedicated drop-off zone for each tower, lobbies, 24-hour reception and concierge and integrated security system.
There is also an outdoor swimming pool for men, children’s day care area with outdoor play area, a multipurpose hall for social events and business requirements, separate fitness centres for men and women with sauna, jacuzzi, aerobics area, and a ladies spa. Drilling work for the project, which was launched late last year, has started.

Denmark’s Ramboll wins job on 400-MW offshore wind park in China

Danish engineering company Ramboll has won a EUR-4-million design contract from Huadong Engineering Corp, while the project developer and owner is State Power Investment Corp (SPIC), to build a 400-MW SPIC Binhai North Phase 2 wind farm.
The company will design the 100 steel turbine foundations, the 400-MW substation, concept for the transformers, breakers and cables, and it will also be developing the design basis for waves, currents and geotechnical conditions. First power from the SPIC Binhai North wind farm is scheduled for December 31, 2016.

KNM accepts letter of award for RM175mil contract

The TDAE plant is to produce carcinogen-free (green) rubber process oils for synthetic rubber and tyre industries.The duration of the contract is expected to be for a period of 20 months commencing from an agreed date subject to the execution of a formal contract agreement to be duly signed between the parties.

Eastland Group awards contract to Ormat for geothermal plant in New Zealand

Ormat Technologies has entered into $24.3m contract with Eastland Group for Te Ahi O Maui geothermal project located near Kawerau, New Zealand. Under the contract, Ormat will be offering its air-cooled Ormat Energy Converter for the geothermal project as part of the Supply & EPC deal.
The project is scheduled to be completed in 2018 and it is jointly owned by Eastland Generation and Kawerau A8D Ahu Whenua Trust. After completion, the plant will be able to generate at least 22MW of net electricity.

Bechtel, Partners Selected to Build New UK Nuclear Plant

Bechtel, the global engineering and construction firm, has been selected with joint venture partners Hitachi Nuclear Energy Europe, Ltd. and Japan Gas Corporation, to deliver a new, two-reactor nuclear plant in Wales, United Kingdom for plant owner Horizon Nuclear Power.
The joint venture will be called Menter Newydd, which means “new venture” in Welsh. It will initially provide front-end engineering and construction planning prior to full construction, expected by 2020.

TerniEnergia lands $19.2 million order for solar PV project in Egypt

The company will handle engineering, procurement and construction services for the project, which will use Italian-made 3Sun solar panels mounted on steel structures.

Dubai’s Azizi awards $54m deals to build Al Furjan projects

Azizi Developments has announced it has awarded a contract worth $54 million to construct two new serviced residences in the Al Furjan area of Dubai. The deal will see Keilani Construction Company build high-end serviced residences – named Roy-Mediterranean and Montrell – which will comprise studios and one-bedroom apartments.
Roy-Mediterranean will feature 271 units including 224 studios and 47 one bedroom apartments while Montrell comprises 222 units, divided into 168 studios and 54 one-bedroom residences. The company has signed a charter party agreement with Sanat Gostar Kish Co (SGK) for deployment of the vessel E. Francis and Diving personnel in the Middle East. This vessel was hired by the company from a company in the Middle East. The contract value is $ 7 million (approximate) and the contract duration of the charter hire is 200 days.

OPWP signs $2.3bn contract for power plants

Oman Power and Water Procurement (OPWP) has signed agreements worth $2.3bn to establish two Independent Power Plants to be located at Ibri in the Governorate of A’Dhahirah and Sohar in the Governorate of North Al Batinah. The project was awarded to the consortium consisting of Mitsui & Co., Ltd., ACWA Power, and Dhofar International Development and Investment Holding Co. (DIDIC).
The two new natural gas-fired combined cycle power plants will have total installed capacity of 3,219 MW, consisting of 1,509 MW at Ibri, and 1,710 MW at Sohar-3. Both projects will be connected to the existing MIS grid once in operation. The Ibri plant is planned to be commercially operated by Q2 of 2019, and Sohar-3 plant is planned to be in operation by Q1 of 2019.

Cimic team wins Canberra light rail contract

The Australian Capital Territory government has appointed the Canberra Metro consortium, which includes Cimic companies Pacific Partnerships and CPB Contractors. Cimic’s role in the consortium spans sponsorship, design, construction, operations, maintenance and equity investment.
The first stage of the Capital Metro project includes design and construction of a 12km light rail route from the fast-growing area of Gungahlin to the city.
Stage one of Capital Metro will generate revenue to Cimic of approximately AU$300m over the design and construction period and AU$300m over the 20-year concession period.
The Canberra Metro consortium comprises the Cimic Group’s Pacific Partnerships and CPB Contractors, as well as John Holland, Mitsubishi Corporation, Aberdeen Infrastructure Investments, DB Engineering & Consulting (formerly Deutsche Bahn International), CAF and Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG).
CPB Contractors will deliver the design and construction in a joint venture with John Holland. CAF will supply and maintain the light rail vehicles. MUFG is the financial advisor with funding provided by local and international banks.
Canberra Metro will complete construction in late 2018 and begin operations in early 2019.

Aramco awards Hasbah gas expansion contract to L&T, Emas

Saudi Aramco has awarded a US$1 billion-plus contract to India’s Larsen & Toubro Ltd and Singapore-based Emas AMC for the expansion of the offshore Hasbah sour gas field. The expansion of Hasbah will supply 2 billion standard cubic feet per day (scfd) of gas to the Fadhili plant, for which Aramco awarded a construction contract last year. The remaining 500 million scfd of supply for the plant will come from the onshore Khursaniyah field.
Work on the expansion scheme includes building platforms and pipelines, with the field’s supply feeding the Fadhili gas plant, a US$6 billion complex that will include a gas processing unit and sulphur recovery.

BHEL bags Rs 1600 crore order to set up a 250-mw thermal power plant in Odisha

ACWA Power, Mitsui consortium awarded Oman’s largest power plant project

Oman Power and Water Procurement Company SAOC has announced that a a consortium led by Mitsui & Co., Ltd., ACWA Power, and Dhofar International Development and Investment Holding Co. SAOG (DIDIC) has been awarded the 3,219 MW Ibri Sohar-3 power generation project, which is the largest single tendered Independent Power Project in Oman.
The project includes two natural gas-fired combined cycle power plants of 1,509 MW and 1,710 MW each, located at Ibri and Sohar in Northern Oman.
Both plants will be owned and operated under a 15-year power purchase agreement with OPWP and will be connected to the Main Interconnected System (“MIS”) in the Sultanate of Oman. The plans will be operational in early 2019.

FWO awards Karachi-Hyderabad motorway contract to Mughal Steel

Energix bags funds for Phase II of 192-MW Polish wind project

Energix Renewable Energies Ltd has secured over PLN 250 million of financing for the 56-MW Phase II of its up-to-192-MW Banie wind project in north-western Poland. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) said that it will extend a PLN-162-million loan for the second phase of the project, whilst Alior Bank will lend an additional PLN 90 million.
The funds will refinance a portion of the construction costs for Phase II, which is expected to enter service by the end of June 2016. The 50-MW first phase of the project is already operational. It was financed with a PLN-150-million loan from EBRD and a further PLN 120 million from Alior and BOS Bank.

First Natural Gas Pipeline Bid in Eastern India Won by H-Energy

H-Energy Private Limited has won the bid for laying Contai – Dattapulia – Jajpur – Dhamra – Cuttack – Paradip natural gas pipeline in Eastern India.
The pipeline will span more than 715 kms and will connect important demand centers in West Bengal and Odisha delivering gas to major industrial consumers such as refineries, petro-chemical units, fertilizer units and power plants. The pipeline will also deliver re-gasified LNG to customers in Western Bangladesh near Dattapulia at India-Bangladesh border.
H-Energy plans to start construction activities of the pipeline immediately after the award of authorization by the pipeline regulator to meet the timeline of its East Coast project for supply of first gas to the customers in Eastern India by Q2 2019.

KP Engineering wins $100 million contract for Channelview facility

Tyler-based KP Engineering will help build a crude and condensate splitter and an associated tank farm, valued at $100 million for Targa Resource Corp., to be located at Targa’s storage and marine terminal facility in Channelview.
It will have the capability to split 35,000 barrels per day of condensate into its various components, including naptha, kerosene, gas oil, jet fuel and liquefied petroleum gas, and will provide segregated storage for the condensate and components. The project is expected to be completed approximately 18 months after all permits have been obtained
Condensate is a lighter form of crude oil, often obtained through hydraulic fracturing (fracking), in little demand domestically but potentially profitable to export. The splitter facility will separate out the condensate.

Jamaican government selects Eight Rivers to build 33.1MW solar plant

The Jamaican Office of Utilities Regulation (OUR) has selected Eight Rivers Energy Company (EREC), to construct, own and operate a 33.1MW solar PV plant at Paradise Park in Westmoreland, at a proposed lowest electricity price of 8.54 US cents/kWh.
EREC is an international independent power producer formed out of a partnership between UK-based alternative energy experts Rekamniar Frontier Ventures and French renewables group Neoen.
EREC has designs to start operating what will be Jamaica’s largest solar energy plant within a year. The company has stated that it has already paid in excess of the 1% deposit on its bid submission in January, and will shortly be meeting with its backing joint partner. Neoen will also secure financing from the French government to fund the project.
The construction of the PV plant at Paradise Park is set to begin in July.

Blue Water Shipping-Led JV Bags $350M Deal from Kazakhstan’s Tengizchevroil

Blue Water Shipping has said that a consortium led by the firm has been awarded a contract with a value in excess of $350 million by Kazakhstan’s Tengizchevroil (TCO). The consortium led by Blue Water Shipping also consists of Topaz Energy and Marine. It has signed a contract to build and operate 15 specially designed vessels for an oil project in Kazakhstan for the Tengizchevroil (TCO) joint venture. The scope for the vessels is to transport modules and cargo up to 1,800 tons through the Russian river systems to the Tengiz oil field in Kazakhstan.

PNC Infratech bags Rs 140-crore airport runway contract in UP

Jacobs Wins Contract From Mitsubishi To Expand Production Capacity At US Plant

Under the deal terms, Jacobs would provide engineering services for the $100 million investment, which includes installation of a polyester film production line that is expected to combine high level technology with production efficiency.

GR unit wins $50m LNG contract

Subsidiary Upstream Production Solutions has struck a deal with Origin Energy to provide maintenance and other services for up to three years at Australia Pacific LNG’s operations. The contract continues services Upstream PS has performed for operator Origin since 2014. The award follows the unit winning $90 million in operations and maintenance work for Northern Oil and Gas Australia at a Timor Sea oil field.

Pittsburgh firm gets UK power plant contract

Emerson Process Management in Pittsburgh has a won a contract for control systems and project management at a waste-to-energy facility under construction in North Yorkshire, United Kingdom.
Financial details weren’t available but the contract is between Vinci Environment UK, which is building the plant, and Emerson Process Management, a division of Emerson.
The plant will produce 28 megawatts of electricity an hour from biogas and recycled materials when it becomes operational in 2018.

Egypt’s Orascom Construction wins $308 mln Cairo metro line contracts

Orascom Construction has won two contracts worth $307.75 million for work on the third phase of Cairo’s third metro rail line. The third phase of the metro will stretch across 18 km of tunnelling and viaduct works which will include 15 elevated, grade and underground stations. Orascom will complete the civil package in a consortium with French construction companies Vinci and Bouygues and Arab Contractors, and the track works package in a consortium with TSO, part of France’s NGE Group, and ETF, a subsidiary of Eurovia.
Earlier, Orascom won $180 million contract for work on the first phase of the expansion in 2007 and won contracts worth $140 million for the second phase of the third metro line in 2009.

ABB wins $17 million order to upgrade 275-kilovolt (kV) substation in Scotland

ABB, a Swiss engineering firm, has announced it has won orders worth around $17 million from SP Energy Networks (SPEN) to upgrade their 275-kilovolt (kV) Kilmarnock South substation in East Ayrshire, Scotland. ABB will design, supply, install and commission 13 bays of gas insulated switchgear (GIS) that will replace existing air-insulated switchgear (AIS) installation which cannot be extended to allow for additional capacity. The overall SPEN project is expected to be completed in 2019 with ABB’s scope planned for completion in 2017.

ACME bags solar projects in AP, Telangana

ACME has bagged tenders for developing 200 MW solar power projects in separate tenders conducted by SECI and NTPC in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The company won the largest share of 150 MW out of 400 MW at fixed tariff of Rs. 4.43 per unit in addition to Viability Gap Fund of Rs. 55 lakh per MW. The tender was floated by SECI under JNNSM Phase II Batch III. The company will commission the project within 13 months from the date of signing of the PPA with SECI.

Trans Adriatic Pipeline AG (TAP) has selected a JV comprising Renco S.p.A (Italy) and Terna S.A. (Greece) for EPC and commissioning of one compressor station at Kipoi, near the Greek-Turkish border in Greece.
In Albania, the award covers the provision of EPC and commissioning of one compressor station at Fier, and one metering station at Billisht. The metering station is designed to measure natural gas coming from the Greek section of TAP.
The construction of the compressor stations is planned to start in the second half of 2016 and it will take approximately two years to complete. The contract for the supply of six gas turbine turbo compressor units to be incorporated into the compressor stations was awarded in September 2015 to Siemens.

BloomWind2Vestas announced that the North American power producer Capital Power Corporation had placed a firm and unconditional order for 54 of Vestas’ V117-3.3 MW wind turbines to be deployed at the 178 MW Bloom Wind Project being developed in Ford and Clark Counties, Kansas. Upon completion, the Bloom Wind Project will generate enough electricity to supply the equivalent of 67,000 Kansas households with clean energy each year.
Vestas will supply the turbines, as well as commission and fulfill a five-year service agreement for the wind farm. Commissioning is expected for the first and second quarter of 2017, with completion and operation expected by the third quarter of 2017.

Chinese Firm Wins EPC Contract for Oil Refinery in Cambodia

China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) Northeast Refining & Chemical Engineering Company has secured an EPC contract from a Cambodian conglomerate to construct a 620 million-U.S.-dollar oil refinery in its first phase. The refinery is located in Cambodia’s southwestern Preah Sihanouk province.
Under the contract, the Chinese firm will carry out detailed engineering design of the project, procure all the equipment and materials necessary, and then construct an oil refinery for the Cambodian Petrochemical Company.
The construction of the oil refinery in the first phase will be completed at the end of 2018 with the oil production capacity of 2 million tons per year.

The Blominmäki treatment plant will replace the Suomenoja treatment plant once completed in 2020, and it will treat the wastewater of 400,000 residents. UAE company wins dredging contract for Maputo port

UAE-based company, Jan de Nul Dredging Middle East, has been awarded a contract for deepening the access channel in Maputo port from its current 11 metres to 14.2 metres. Maputo is the capital of Mozambique in southern Africa.
The cost of the dredging is expected to be in excess of US$100 million, and will be financed by a consortium of banks headed by the BCI, Commercial and Investment Bank.
The dredging will take ten months, and will involve three large dredging vessels. Preparatory work has already been undertaken, and Jan de Nul is confident that it will begin the actual dredging in early May. An estimated 30 million cubic metres of sediment will be removed from the 17 kilometre long channel.

Va Tech Wabag bags orders worth Rs 141 crore

Va Tech Wabag has won a wastewater Treatment Plant order in Nepal for a value of Rs 141 crore. The order which will be funded by the Asian Development Bank also includes Operation & Maintenance of the WWTP for a period of 10 years.
The scope of the order includes Rehabilitation and Expansion of Wastewater Treatment Plant at Guheshwori in Nepal. The company will be carrying out rehabilitation and expansion of the WWTP, while the existing plant will be kept operational. The plant which was constructed in 2002 to treat an average flow of 16.2 MLD, post rehabilitation and expansion, will double the capacity to 32.4 MLD. The salient feature of the plant would include generation of power from bio-gas produced out of the sludge.

CIMIC wins $500m Victorian rail contract

CIMIC is set to benefit from the Victorian government’s ongoing level crossing removal plans, leading a consortium that has secured a $1.6 billion contract to design and construct the Caulfield to Dandenong level crossing removal project.
CIMIC (CIM) subsidiary CPB Contractors is set to secure about $500 million in revenue out of the deal, with a consortium that also includes LendLease and Metro Trains to begin work around the middle of this year and wrap up in 2018.
The project involves the removal of nine level crossings in Melbourne’s southeast and the rebuilding of five railway stations. It represents a significant chunk of the Victorian government’s target to eradicate 20 level crossings by 2018 and 50 by 2022.

A JV between EPS and Roadbridge in partnership with Irish Water has recently awarded the contract for the construction of a new wastewater treatment plant in Belmullet, Co. Mayo valued in excess of €6m.
The Design-Build works will involve the design, construction, testing and commissioning of a waste water treatment plant (WWTP), a marine outfall, new sewers on the collection network, two pumping stations and associated rising mains.
Construction of the WWTP will commence this summer and has a construction period of 18 months. It will be constructed on a green field site and will be designed to treat sewage from a population equivalent (PE) of 2,500 persons.
The proposed works on the collection network will include approximately 1.5km of foul sewer, 0.15km of surface water sewer and 3.5km of rising main along with 2 no. new pumping stations. The operations service of the contract provides for the operation and maintenance of the WWTP and outfall pipeline, 2 new pumping stations and associated rising mains for 2 years.

Solar Frontier wins contract from Staten Solar

Simplex Infrastructure, JKumar Infraprojects and NCC have won the contracts for different packages of the 16.5 km Andheri (East) to Dahisar (East) Metro-7 corridor. The Executive Committee of the Authority, headed by Maharashtra Chief Secretary Swadheen Kshatriya, accorded approval to appointment of the contractors to design and construct an elevated viaduct and 16 stations in three packages, MMRDA said.
Simplex Infrastructure has been awarded the contract to design and construct the first package consisting of an elevated viaduct and five elevated stations including Andheri (East), Shankarwadi, JVLR Junction, Mahanand and new Ashok Nagar.
The agency has selected JKumar Infraprojects to design and construct the second package consisting of an elevated viaduct and six elevated stations – Aarey, Dindoshi, Pathan Wadi, Pushpa Park, Bandongri and Mahindra & Mahindra.
NCC has bagged the contract to design and construct the third package consisting of an elevated viaduct and five elevated stations including Magathane, Devipada, National Park, Ovaripada and Dahisar(E).
These bidders will design and construct the entire corridor and all 16 stations within a period of 30 months.

WIND Siemens bags wind power order from Eurus Energy

Siemens has bagged its third wind power order from Eurus Energy Holdings Corporation, a wind power developer in Japan. Eurus Energy Holdings is building the 41.6 megawatt Eurus Higashi Yurihara wind power plant in Yurihonjo city.
As per the wind turbine deal, Siemens will provide 13 direct drive wind turbines of the type SWT-3.2-101 rated at 3.2 megawatts each. Eurus Energy Holdings is aiming to start the commercial operation of the wind farm in spring 2018.

This includes the construction of 20 floors of offices above a five-level shopping podium, and a five-level basement including 200 parking spaces.
Lee Garden Three, will be constructed on the former site of Sunning Plaza and Sunning Court. It is part of Hysan’s future group of commercial buildings in Causeway Bay. Inox Wind has bagged two orders for a cumulative capacity of 100 MW from one of India’s leading renewable energy independent power producers. The turnkey orders comprise of a 50 MW project to be set up in Gujarat and a 50 MW project to be set up in Madhya Pradesh.
As part of the turnkey projects, Inox Wind will provide end to end solutions from development and construction to commissioning and providing long term operations and maintenance services. The orders involve supply and installation of 25 units of Inox Wind’s 100 meter rotor dia Wind Turbine Generator for the Gujarat project and 25 units of the company’s 113 meter rotor dia WTG for the Madhya Pradesh project.

TAP Awards Offshore Construction Contract to Saipem SpA

Trans Adriatic Pipeline AG (TAP) has awarded an EPCI contract to Saipem SpA for the offshore section of the project. TAP’s 36-inch offshore pipeline across the Adriatic Sea – between the coastlines of Albania and southern Italy – will be approximately 105 km in length, down to approximately 820 meters below sea level at the deepest.
The EPCI scope comprises associated civil works at the landfalls in both Albania and Italy (including micro tunnel), offshore pipeline installation, offshore fiber optic cable supply and installation, as well as pre-commissioning and survey activities. The coated offshore 36-inch line pipes, the anodes and the buckle arrestors will be provided by TAP.

Inox Wind bags 70 MW wind turbine orders from Adani Enterprises

Adani Enterprises has placed order for wind turbine generators with Inox Wind Limited. Inox has inked two contracts for a cumulative capacity of 70 MW with Adani Green Energy Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Adani Enterprises Limited and part of the Adani Group.
The orders bagged by Inox Wind represent Adani Group’s maiden foray into the wind energy segment and encompass a 50 MW turnkey project to be set up in Anantapur district in Andhra Pradesh and a 20 MW turnkey project at Inox Wind’s Lahori site in Madhya Pradesh.
As part of the two turnkey orders, Inox Wind will deliver, install, and commission 35 units of Inox Wind’s 100 rotor diameter turbines and has also been contracted to undertake operations and maintenance services of the projects for a multi year period, post commissioning.

Kinder Morgan Affiliates Award EPC Contract for Elba Facility

Kinder Morgan Inc. KMI has announced that its subsidiaries, Elba Liquefaction Company, L.L.C. and Southern LNG Company, L.L.C., have awarded a contract to IHI E&C for the engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and start up of its natural gas liquefaction project at Elba Island, near Savannah, GA.
The Elba Liquefaction Project, valued at about $2 billion, will comprise 10 Movable Modular Liquefaction System trains that employ the proprietary technology of Royal Dutch Shell plc RDS.A. The new units will be attached to Kinder Morgan’s existing re-gasification terminal at Elba Island. The existing terminal will be remodeled to obtain LNG from the new liquefaction facilities. The existing Elba facilities will be revamped with compression for vapor handling as well as new pumps for loading LNG on vessels for export.
Royal Dutch Shell will purchase the entire liquefaction capacity and ship-loading services developed by Elba Liquefaction Project. On completion, the project will have a capability to process and liquefy a total of about 2.5 million tons per annum of LNG.
IHI E&C’s office in Houston has begun the initial EPC planning though the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission is yet to approve the project. Apart from project modularization, IHI E&C will be responsible for major instrumentation and electrical engineering, logistics and interface management, procurement, supply-chain expertise, and large scale construction.
The execution strategy involves local subcontracting for site services, local labor charges, employment of local vendors for consumables, and cooperating with local authorities on traffic and other community interests. Dedicated quality management will cover every facet of the project, from EPC to commissioning and start-up.

Huawei wins railway communication contract in Kenya

The contract has been awarded for the purchasing, warehousing and distribution of Lufthansa work apparel. Gamesa, a global technology leader in wind energy, has secured two new EPC orders for the construction of two wind farms in Egypt. The facilities will have combined capacity of 160 MW and are located in the Gabbal El Zayt region along the Red Sea coastline.
The first contract, for the supply of a total of 120 MW, was awarded by Egypt’s New & Renewable Energy Authority (NREA) by means of international public tender in which the leading OEMs participated. It encompasses the supply, installation and commissioning of a total of 60 G80-2.0 MW wind turbines at a new project which is being funded by the Spanish government through its Fund for International Business Expansion (FIEM for its acronym in Spanish). Delivery of the wind turbines is scheduled to begin in October 2016, while the facility is slated for commissioning in the third quarter of 2017.
The second order, meanwhile, is for the supply of another 20 G80-2.0 MW turbines (40 MW) in order to expand an existing operational 200-MW complex, which was also awarded to Gamesa by NREA by means of international public tender in 2011. These 20 new turbines will be delivered during the last quarter of this year for commissioning in early 2017. As with phase one of this project, the expansion will once again be financed by the German development bank, KfW.

L&T wins Rs 2,125 crore contracts

The contract involves four-laning of the Addahole (Gundya) to Bantwal cross of NH-75 (old NH no. 48) in Karnataka. The project is scheduled be completed in 30 months and involves construction of 63 kms of four-lane dual carriage way with concrete pavement in addition to the construction of 14.5 km of service roads, two flyovers, two major bridges, 14 minor bridges, nine underpasses and a toll plaza. The contract value is around Rs.821 crore.

The local subsidiary of Spanish group Acciona SA was among the winners in Mexico’s energy auction this week. It won 585.7 GWh of power supply contracts for the wind project. The auction resulted in 1.38 TWh of annual wind and 4 TWh of annual solar power deals. Named El Cortijo, the wind power plant will comprise 56 of Acciona’s 3-MW turbines. The contractor would construct and complete the viaduct guideway and other associated works for a 4.9km stretch of the SSP Line’s elevated alignment from Sungai Buloh to Persiaran Dagang.
It is expected that phase one of the SSP line begins operations in the second quarter of 2021, and the rest of the line in the second quarter of 2022. The SSP Line is 52.2km in length, of which 13.5km will run underground. It will have 37 stations, 11 of them underground stations.

Mitsubishi Corporation and J-Power Systems will supply the underground transmission cables, while LTL will be in charge of supplying ancillary equipment and installation. The project, which receives some of its financing under a Japanese ODA loan, will cost approximately 7.5 billion yen and is scheduled for completion in May 2018.

Tokyu Construction clinches Dhaka railway deal

Tokyu Construction has won an order to build a railway system in Bangladesh. The project, worth around 8 billion yen is part of a Dhaka transportation system development plan being spearheaded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency. The Japanese contractor is to provide ground improvement and development work for the site to be used as a train depot. Work will likely start around June and be completed in the summer of 2018.
Line 6 of the Mass Rapid Transit, or MRT, system, the first commuter railway in the capital, will link Uttara, in northern Dhaka, to Motijheel, where government offices are concentrated. Sixteen new train stations will be built along the 20km or so route. A northern part of the line will open in 2019 ahead of the scheduled full opening by 2021. The overall cost is estimated at around 240 billion yen.

Beginning this month, the contract includes the heavy lift and placement of two hydrocracker reactor vessels, the largest weighing 359.7 tonnes. Among other supporting equipment, the lifts will require a CC8800-1 crane with 84 metres of main boom and a superlift tray containing 640 tonnes of ballast weight. Sarens plans to use up to 14 qualified craftsmen to support the heavy lift activities. With an estimated 10-month completion timeline, the contract includes the heavy lift and placement of 48 modules and two tower vessels.

The Exim Bank of India funded Polgahawela Water Treatment Plant order has been brought into the company’s order book, following the signing of the loan agreement between the Water Board of Sri Lanka and Exim Bank of India earlier this month. The order is worth US$ 108 mn and is the second order secured from Sri Lanka by the Company through Buyers Credit, the first one being the Dambulla order, which is at an advanced stage of completion. The scope includes design, construction, testing and commissioning of an integrated water supply scheme for Polgahawela and adjoining areas.

In September ’15, the company secured an INR 1,500 crore ETP order from PETRONAS in Malaysia which is progressing at a good pace. The Re-FEED engineering approval has been achieved and the procurement activities have already started for this project. The construction activities too at the site have begun. On the INR 580 crore Al Madina Al Shamaliya STP order, which was bagged by the Company during the month of July ’15, the basic engineering has been approved by the client. In this project, the civil works have started and the ordering of key equipments is at an advanced stage. The INR 220 Crore RWTP order from Dangote Fertilizers in Nigeria is at an advanced stage of engineering and the ordering of supplies is progressing at a good pace.

KEC International Ltd, an RPG Group company, has secured order from Power Grid Corporation of India Limited for the construction of Transmission Lines in various parts of India. Order worth is around Rs.246 crore. It has also received order from West Bengal State Electricity Transmission Company Limited for construction of Transmission Lines at a value of Rs.83 crore.
On International front, it has received orders worth Rs. 404 crore for construction of Transmission Line in Ghana, Africa. The company has secured orders of Rs. 108 crore for supply of Power Cables (incl. EHV) and Telecom Cables. Supply orders worth Rs. 200 crore across the Americas.

Vinci wins EPC contract on Trans-Adriatic pipeline

Vinci subsidiary Spiecapag has been awarded an EPC contract for three sections of the upcoming Trans-Adriatic pipeline that will form the final link in the European Union’s Southern Gas Corridor between Italy and the Caucasus. One section will run 185km between Kipoi and Kavala in Greece and the other two will connect Bilisht and Topoje in Albania, a distance of 215km. Altogether, the TAP will cover 878km and will span Greece, Albania and the Adriatic Sea before landing at the town of San Foca in the heel of Italy, where it will join the European gas network.
Once completed, the project will form one of three linked pipelines that will transport gas from BP’s Shah Deniz II gas field in Azerbaijan’s portion of the Caspian Sea. One section of the line, the South Caucasus Pipeline, has already been built. This will take gas to the border between Turkey and Georgia, where it will join the $11bn, 1,8850km Trans-Anatolian Pipeline, which is expected to be finished in 2018.

KBR-SOCAR wins Azeri refinery contract

KBR has announced that its JV with the Azeri state oil company has won a PMC contract to modernize the Heydar Aliyev Baku oil refinery in Azerbaijan. The refinery’s processing capacity will be increased from 6m to 7.5m t/y, its catalytic cracking unit from 2m to 2.5m t/y, with Euro 5 standards for all refined products. The modernization will begin immediately and is set to be completed by late 2018 at a cost of US$1bn. It has not disclosed the value of its PMC contract.

Mitsubishi, Doosan Heavy win power plant order in Vietnam

Japanese trading house Mitsubishi Corp. and South Korea’s Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction will build a coal-fired power plant in southern Vietnam together with two local partners. The state-owned Electricity of Vietnam placed the order in light of burgeoning demand in the southern part of the country, which includes the economic hub Ho Chi Minh City.
Total project costs are estimated at around 70 billion yen. The four partners are currently building two 600-megawatt plants at the Vin Tan 4 coal power station to fulfill an order placed in 2013. The new order will add one more plant of the same capacity, but which is more efficient and environmentally friendly, in an adjacent space. The total output capacity of the station will be 1,800MW.
Mitsubishi will provide steam turbines and power generation equipment, while Doosan will supply boilers and undertake construction at the site. The Vietnamese partners will contribute auxiliary equipment for the plant.

HCC gains on bagging contract worth Rs 635 crore

The item rate contract involving salvaging of Double Shield Tunnel Boring Machine stuck in the earlier operation by other contractor, refurbishing and putting it in operation to construct 2.84 km long Head Race Tunnel, installation of segmental lining. The contract also involves construction of 1.66 km long tunnel using drill & blast method and concrete lining.

The first award is for a new natural gas pipeline located in central Florida for a midstream customer. The project consists of 79 miles of 36” diameter pipeline to transport natural gas for power generation needs. The scope of work includes 42 road bores, five directional drills, and six mainline test sections. Construction is scheduled to start in the second quarter of 2016 and is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2017.
The second award is for a new natural gas pipeline to a power plant in southern Pennsylvania for an independent power producer. The project consists of 3.7 miles of 24” diameter natural gas pipeline and will give an existing coal-fired plant the option to burn natural gas. Construction is scheduled to start in the first quarter of 2016 and is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2016.

SMEC will help UEGCL oversee the performance of various contractors, including the EPC contractor and owner’s engineer.
SMEC will manage the hydropower project that is located on the Nile River, 90km northeast of Kampala. The plant will extend over 2,865 hectares and will include a concrete gravity dam, a clay-core rockfill dam, spillway, powerhouse, switching stations and auxiliary power transmission works (including the 42km 132 kV Isimba-Bujagali transmission line).Once completed, the plant will generate 1,040GWh of electricity per annum, and is expected to increase the country’s capacity by 23%.

Micoperi secures EPC contract for Tema LNG facility in Ghana

Quantum Power, in consultation with its project partner Ghana National Petroleum Corporation, has selected Micoperi as an EPC contractor for the Tema LNG facility in Ghana. The $550m project will have the capacity to receive, store, regasify and deliver 3.4 million tonnes of LNG per year. The project is planned to be implemented on a BOOT basis and assets will be transferred to GNPC after its term for a period of 20 years. The facility will have the capacity to fuel more than 2,000MW of power generation. Operations at the facility are set to begin at the end of 2016.

STX France wins rentel EPCI contract

STX France, a shipbuilding and marine services company, has been awarded an EPCI contract by Rentel, a Belgian offshore wind firm, for an offshore substation as part of a wind farm project off the Belgian coast. This work will also include completion of high voltage and ancillary equipment for the 309-megawatt wind farm. The 42 offshore wind turbine generators required for the project will be supplied and installed by German engineering firm Siemens. Contracts for the supply and installation of wind turbine foundations and cables are expected to be finalized shortly. An estimated €1.25 billion in project finance is expected to be raised for the project by mid-2016 and construction is due to start shortly afterwards. The project is expected to start ramp up power production over the course of 2018.

Babcock & Wilcox Enterprises has won a contract worth more than $80 million to design, engineer and manufacture a high-efficiency supercritical boiler for the Masinloc Thermal Power Plant expansion project in Zambales Province. The boiler is part of a 300 MW expansion project at the 600MW plant. Masinloc Power Partners Co., a subsidiary of U.S. power company AES , signed a contract in December with Korean construction company POSCO E&C to build two new units — 300 MW each — at the plant at a cost of $900 million. POSCO contracted with B&W. This would be the first of the two expansion units, and it is due to be finished in the first half of 2019.

Dilip Buildcon bags Rs 545.4-cr contract in Goa

Dilip Buildcon has said that it has bagged Rs 545.4-crore contract from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways to construct 640-km eight-lane cable-stayed bridge across the Zuari in Goa. It has partnered with Ukrainian firm Mostobudivelnyi Zahin) for its technical expertise to construct the cable bridge. Dilip Buildcon will have a majority stake of 70 per cent in the joint venture firm while the remaining 30 per cent will be held by MBZ. This contract is part of the Rs 676.19-crore, 1.084-km-long project, which is expected to be completed in 36 months.

Toshiba Group firm UEM India bags Rs 220 crore contract in Oman

Toshiba Group’s water services company UEM India has bagged a Rs 220 crore DBO contract for a wastewater treatment and recycling plant in Oman. The contract was awarded by Majis Industrial Services SAOC (MISC), an Omani-government owned corporation and provider of water utility services at Sohar Industrial Port Area and covers DBO of Central Effluent Treatment and Recycle Project 1 Phase 2 in the port area. UEM will also operate and maintain the facility for the first 10 years of operation.

Gayatri Projects consortium bags Rs.4,744-cr freight corridor contract

Gayatri Projects Ltd has won a Rs. 4,744-crore contract for designing and building the Iqbalgarh-Vadodara section of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFCC) in a consortium with Sojitz Corporation of Japan and L&T Ltd. The project mandate is for design and construction of civil, building and track works for double line railway involving formation in embankments/cuttings, bridges, structures along with works relating to bridges across rivers of Mahi and Sabramati. The order includes testing and commissioning on design, build on lump sum price basis in the Iqbalgarh-Vadodara section of Western Dedicated Freight Corridor Phase I.

Ford City Awarded $750,000 Grant to Construct Water Plant

The State Senator Don White and Representative Jeff Pyle has announced that Armstrong County received a $750,000 grant through the state Community Development Block Grant program to assist in the Ford City water system project. Ford City’s project includes construction of a new water treatment plant and rehabilitation of a water storage tank that will allow for 720,000 gallons-per-day of treatment.
Besides the new treatment plant construction, grant funding is also to go toward restoring and painting a water storage tank, restoring an existing pump station and emergency generator and installing new water meters. With the new funding allocation, water plant construction could begin as soon as this summer. The water plant itself would cost about $2 million to construct.

Inox Wind bags 20 MW wind power project in Madhya Pradesh

Siemens to install 54-MW onshore wind-power plant in Turkey

A total of 17 direct-drive wind turbines rated at 3.2-MW capacity each will be installed at the onshore project close to the coast of the Aegean Sea. Customer Esinti Enerji A.S. also consigned maintenance to Siemens in the framework of a 10-year service contract, including advanced remote monitoring and diagnostics. Installation of the wind turbines will start in summer with commissioning scheduled for autumn 2016.

IL&FS Transportation’s joint venture firm bags Ethiopian road contract

IL&FS Transportation Networks has said it JV firm has bagged Rs 1,525 crore road contract in Ethiopia. The company in joint venture with Elsamex SA, a wholly- owned subsidiary of the company in Spain had submitted the bid to the Ethiopian Roads Authority, Federal Republic of Ethiopia for design, improvement works and management and maintenance services of (i) Nekempte – Anger Gutin-Andhode road section (86.10 km) and (ii) Agamsa-Bure road section (84.56 km) on an output and performance based road contract. It further said: “The Director General, Ethiopian Roads Authority has awarded the aforesaid projects for development by the Joint Venture for a period of 8 years. The project is funded by the World Bank and the estimated total contract value is USD 223.0 million.

L&T soars as its construction arm bags orders worth Rs 2213 crore

L&T Constructions under Transportation Infrastructure Business, has bagged new orders worth Rs 1078 crore from the NHAI for the construction of the Kerala/TamilNadu -Villikuri -Kanyakumari sections of NH-47 and NH – 47B under NHDP Phase-3 in Tamil Nadu on EPC mode. The projects are scheduled to be completed in 24 months and involve cumulative construction of 69.9 Km of four lane dual carriage way with concrete pavement. The scope also involves 64 Km bypass and realignment work, 51.7 Km of service / slip roads, one major bridge, 33 minor bridges, three railway over bridges and 23 vehicular and cattle underpasses.
L& T’s Power Transmission & Distribution Business, has won an EPC order from Sarawak Energy in East Malaysia, of Samalaju – 2 275/132/33kV substation establishment. Further, Larsen & Toubro (Oman) LLC, a subsidiary of the company, has also won an order for the construction of 400kV underground cable lines and overhead lines from 400kV Sohar IPP- 3 GS to 400kV Sohar free zone (SFZ) Grid station on EPC basis from Oman Electricity Transmission Company. Altogether, the contract weighs Rs.1001 crore.

Govt signs energy-related contracts worth US$227 million

The Indonesian Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry has awarded 133 contracts worth Rp 3 trillion to state-owned companies and private corporations to build energy-related infrastructure facilities in 2016. Earlier contracts included the construction of natural-gas stations, gas pipeline networks, micro-hydro power plants, solar-powered electric generators, waste-based power plants and bio-gas power plants. The largest contract, worth Rp 493 billion, was for a gas pipeline project in Prabumulih in South Sumatra. The contract went to three state-owned companies, namely PT Wijaya Karya, PT Nindya Karya and PT Rekayasa Industri.

European firm lands 53MW Uruguay wind turbine order

Vestas has landed an order for 53MW for the Vientos de Pastorale wind farm in Villa Pastora, in Uruguay’s Flores province. The company will supply 16, 3.3MW turbines to TaxWay, a local subsidiary of Spanish firm Cobra. Vientos de Pastorale will have an estimated annual capacity of 223GWh, enough to cover the electricity demand of 50,000 households. The contract includes turbine supply, installation, operation and maintenance through a 10-year contract. The company will supply the turbines in 3Q16 and the farm is slated to enter operations in 1Q17.

Vestas wins 45-MW wind-turbine order in Denmark

Vestas has received a 45MW turbine order placed by Hogager Vindpark K/S in Western Jutland, Denmark. The unconditional order comprises 21 V100-2.0 MW wind turbines, 17 of which will be delivered in power optimized mode to 2.2 MW. The wind farm will be placed near Hogager in the municipality of Hol-stebro in Denmark. The order for the wind-power plant includes supply, installation, and commissioning of turbines, along with a 10-year Active Output Management (AOM) 4000 service agreement. Delivery of the turbines is expected in the third quarter of 2016 with commissioning in the fourth quarter.

Hock Seng Lee bags RM58m Sarawak Energy project

The contract period for the completion and commissioning of the project is 21 months commencing March 7, 2016. DLF awards Rs 800-cr contract to L&T

ABB wins $100m gas field revamp deal in Algeria

ABB has won a contract worth $100 million to renovate the liquefied petroleum gas treatment unit gas field at Rhourde Nouss in Algeria. The contract awarded by the Sonatrach includes the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of a system test. ABB will reorganize the train 200 of processing and LPG separation units that were damaged in 2009, in addition to providing process equipment, new electrical systems and instrumentation.
It will also offer engineering services for the construction of a new spray system and re-injection of LPG. Engineering work will be carried out by ABB Italia while the construction work will be carried out by Sarpi, a joint venture by Sonatrach and ABB.

The Union Ministry of Coal has decided to allocate the Talabira II and III coal blocks located in Odisha to Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC). Since the two coal blocks were previously allocated jointly to NLC, Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd (MCL) and Aditya Birla Group-owned Hindalco Industries, the MoC will work out a compensation figure payable to the prior allotees. The ministry has also called for details of land acquisition, status of rehabilitation & resettlement (if any), details of infrastructure and capital investment and bank-wise credit facilities availed with respect to the coal block. NLC, earlier evinced interest in setting up a 2000 MW coal-fired power plant in Odisha through a joint venture with a state government owned PSU. Though the exact location for this power plant is yet to be decided, NLC had preferred to put up the plant in the vicinity of Talabira-2 and Talabira-3 situated under the command area of MCL.

The 14” dia pipeline, part of Orpic’s US$ 6.4bn Liwa Plastic Industries Complex (LPIC), will travel from the New Fahud NGL Plant to the Steam Cracker Unit at Sohar in Oman. Bombardier wins contract for Valley Line LRT project

Bombardier Transportation says it has won $391 million contract for the design and supply of the LRT cars, signalling, communications, power supply and other equipment for the new Valley Line light rail transit project in Edmonton. Other companies included in the Stage 1 Valley Line project include Bechtel, EllisDon and Fengate. Stage 1 will include a 13.1 km system that will run from the southeast to downtown and will include 11 stops and one station. Bombardier says companies involved in the project will use construction techniques to restrict any disturbances along the North Saskatchewan River valley and the river. Fengate says the project is on schedule to start construction by the middle of this year.

Daewoo E&C Wins US$480 Million Deal to Build Bridge in India

The Phase 1 program includes an integrated geological-geochemical-geophysical and geomorphological survey focused on airborne magnetic and radiometric work and geological mapping. The Phase 2 program will further define potential drill targets based on studies of primary and secondary gold and diamond deposits in terms of lode, alluvial, and alluvial deposits for gold, kimberlite, and diamond.
The overall contract value for all phases of the project will exceed $3 million. Contractually, NV5 will receive advance payment for all sub-phases of any given part of this project, with a 30% pre-payment for program initiation to minimize contractor risk in a mutually agreed manner.

The contract in Jasiniec is for a turnkey project to reconstruct a 220/110 kV substation including a new 400 kV switchgear. The scope of services spans from design, permitting, civil works, technology building, and a new 400 kV switchgear to complete substation systems. The contract in Joachimow is a turnkey project from design to start-up and testing, measurements and handover to the customer. Both projects will be started during 2016. The Jasiniec project will be completed by the end of 2019 and Joachimow project by early 2019.

Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has secured $1.6 billion order to set up a 1320 MW coal based power project at Rampal in Khulna, Bangladesh. The project is being set up by India’s state-owned NTPC Ltd and Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) in an equal joint venture (JV). The JV named Bangladesh India Friendship Power Co. Ltd and also referred to as the Maitree (friendship) project.
Earlier, BHEL has approached the PMO to secure an attractive financial package by the government of India to bid competitively. It has received a package from EXIM bank, under an interest equalization scheme. The package offers a dollar-denominated loan for 20-year tenure at a concessional rate of interest linked to London interbank offered rate.

Barakah Offshore Petroleum Bhd has received a contract to install two gas pipelines under the Petronas Carigali-operated Baram Delta Gas Gathering Project 2 (Bardegg 2) and Baronia enhanced oil recovery project offshore Miri, Sarawak. In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the oil and gas service provider said its wholly-owned subsidiary company, PBJV Group Sdn Bhd, had received the 2016 work scope for the “Transportation and Installation Of Offshore Facilities for Year 2014-2016”.
It said the two projects under the work scope were the 43km Bardegg and Baronia 24-inch pipeline from the TTJT-A wellhead platform to the Baronia B central processing platform (BNCPP-B) (tentative installation date is March 2016) and the 125km Bardegg and Baronia 24-inch pipeline from DNCPP-B to the E11RC platform (tentative installation date is May 2016).Barakah did not provide the estimated value of the contract, saying that “the total value of the work scope will depend the duration of the work and costs related to project management team, and engineering, materials, services, engineering and other related services.”

Ltd (DSME) has awarded Clough a contract for the hook-up services on the Ichthys LNG project’s Floating, Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) facility. This is the second hook-up contract that Clough has been awarded for the Ichthys LNG project, following the recent announcement that Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) had contracted the company to provide hook-up services on the central processing facility (CPF).
The Ichthys FPSO is a 336 m long, permanently moored and weather-vaning vessel. It is designed to hold more than 1 million bbl of condensate. The scope of work includes the preparation and execution of offshore hook-up and assistance to commissioning. Work will commence in 1Q16, with the mobilisation of engineering and technical teams to the DSME fabrication yard located in Geoje, South Korea before moving offshore in the Browse Basin, 200 km off the northern coastline of Western Australia.

Siemens wins 172MW in Ireland

SSE has ordered 36 3MW turbines for the 108MW second of four phases making up the Galway Wind Park development in western Ireland.
In July 2015, Siemens was contracted to supply 22 3MW turbines to the first phase of the site. Financing for the €176 million development was agreed in mid-January. Construction of the first phase continues and the second phase is expected to follow soon with completion expected in mid-2017. The second phase is being developed in conjunction with the forestry commission Coillte.
Coillte and Irish utilty Bord Na Mona have also awarded Siemens a 64MW deal to supply the Sliabh Bawn project in western Ireland. Siemens will deliver 20 3.2MW turbines to the project. The joint developers arranged project financing on 27 January for the €90 million development. Construction has started at Sliabh Brown, which is expected online in early 2017.

Thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions (USA) has secured a contract from Midwest Fertilizer Company to provide EPC and related services to build a $2bn nitrogen plant in Indiana, US. Construction on the plant is expected to start after finance closure and to be complete by 2020. After completion, the plant will produce Ammonia, Urea, Urea Ammonium Nitrate (UAN), and Diesel Exhaust Fluid.
The project will be part funded by Midwest Fertilizer through $1.259bn of tax-exempt debt the company has secured, which was facilitated by Posey County, Indiana under the Heartland Disaster Tax Relief Act of 2008. Remaining amount will be raised through equity, tax increment-financing bonds, and some term debt. Fatima Fertilizer Company, a unit of Fatima Group is the principal sponsor and developer of the project.

The facility will treat municipal and commercial and industrial waste to supply 14.5 MW of electricity.
The scope of the work under the contract includes the plant’s combustion system and air-cooled DynaGrate, fuel handling equipment, steam boiler island, steam turbine-generator, water treatment system, piping, valves and air systems, burners and other plant equipment. Bryant construction project contracts to be awarded in January

The Sioux City School Board will award two contracts for the new Bryant Elementary project. The first is a bid package for reconstruction along 31st, Jones and Jennings streets around the school, demolition of the current Bryant building, site work and construction of retaining walls. The board will vote to award the contract to Sioux City Engineering Company for $3.29 million. The estimate presented in November was $3.1 million. The new school, to be built on the current campus at 821 30th St., is scheduled to open in August 2019.
The second bid package to be awarded is a geothermal well project. Thorpe Water Development, Co.’s bid of $594,339 will be considered. The third and final package – construction of the new building – will begin after the first two projects are completed.

ONGC gets nod for Rs. 53,000 cr KG basin infra project

ONGC has got environmental clearance for drilling 45 development wells and other related infrastructure at Block KG-DWN-98/2 Krishna-Godavari basin in Andhra Pradesh. The proposed project, which would cost Rs. 53,058 crore, will be implemented in the northern discovery area of NELP-I offshore block KG-DW N-98/2 that covers an area of 7,294.6 sq km and is located within 25-80 km from nearest coast.
The block is divided into Northern Discovery Area (NDA) having deep waters with depth of upto 1,800 meters and the other one is Southern Discovery Area (SDA) which has ultra-deep waters having depth of upto 3,100 meters.
NDA has two clusters — Cluster 1 predominately has gas and Cluster 2 mixture of oil and gas.
As per the proposal, the gas will be evacuated from Cluster 1 through dual subsea pipelines connecting to the fixed platform. From this platform, de-hydrated gas will be transferred to already existing onland terminal at Odalarevu, East Godavari district, by subsea pipeline. This pipeline will be connected directly to GAIL custody transfer point.
From Cluster 2, the hydrocarbon fluids will be taken to an FPSO facility through dual subseas pipeline. The stablised crude oil will be transported through sea tankers and compressed and dehydrated gas will be evacuated on to fixed platform from FPSO to Odalarevu Onshore Terminal through dual subsea pipeline reaching the onland terminal to GAIL for custody transfer.

Kalpataru Power Transmission Limited has secured new orders of about Rs 1,248 crore. The orders include establishment of transmission system for strengthening transfer of power from new hydroelectric power projects in Bhutan to India. The 400 KV transmission line project to be constructed in West Bengal and Bihar worth about Rs 864 crore has been awarded by the company’s wholly-owned subsidiary Alipurduar Transmission Ltd.
The second large project bagged includes a turnkey transmission line project in Nepal worth about Rs 238 crore from Nepal Electricity Authority. The third involves construction of 380 KV overhead transmission lines in Saudi Arabia worth about Rs 146 crore. The project will be implemented by Kalpataru IBN Omairah Company Ltd, a joint venture between IBN Omairah Contracting Company and KPTL.

Under the deal, the company will provide undersea cables worth $47 million to the New York Power Authority (NYPA). The project will allow LS Cable to supply cables for Lake Champlain between New York and Vermont. The cable manufacturer also recently won a $54 million contract to provide undersea cables for Canada’s eastern province of Prince Edward Island.

Gamesa wins orders for 130 MW of turbines in India

Spanish wind turbine maker Gamesa SA has announced that it has received three orders totaling 130 MW in the Indian market. Under the contracts, the company will supply a total of 65 units of its G97-2.0 MW turbine. Gamesa will build two wind farms, one of 50 MW and one of 30 MW on EPC basis, and will also supply 50 MW of turbines to a third wind farm.
The 50-MW EPC contract, coming from an unnamed renewable energy player, is for a wind farm in the state of Gujarat that is scheduled for commissioning in September. The other EPC order is from a power supplier and is for a wind farm in the state of Madhya Pradesh. This project is expected to be commissioned in the first quarter of 2016.

CTB awards contracts for projects in Hampton Roads

The Commonwealth Transportation Board has awarded seven contracts for projects totaling about $194 million. The Virginia Department of Transportation says the board approved the contracts recently.
The largest contract is $139 million to widen and reconstruct several miles of Interstate 64 in Newport News and York and James City counties. The project is expected to be completed in July 2019.
Other projects include replacing the U.S. 340 bridge over the South River in Waynesboro, two U.S. 58 bridge projects in the Hampton Roads District and three paving projects in the Richmond District.

Charisma Energy, Sunseap win 140MWp India solar power project

A JV firm of Charisma Energy has been given a contract to develop solar power plants in India and to supply power to National Thermal Power Corporation at a fixed rate of 4.35 rupees (9.2 Singapore cents) per KWh for 25 years. Rising Sun Energy, which Charisma owns together with Singapore solar firm Sunseap International and a local Indian partner, will be building a solar farm with a capacity of 140 megawatts at peak conditions (MWp). The project is part of a 420-MWp solar farm development at Bhadla Solar Park in Rajasthan. To be funded through internal resources and debt financing, it is expected to start commercial operations in the second quarter of next year.

Hyflux unit secures US$50.4 mil contract in Saudi Arabia

Hydrochem Saudi, a unit of Hyflux Group, has clinched a contract by Snamprogetti Saudi Arabia, a unit of Saipem SpA to design, manufacture and supply a seawater reverse osmosis and sulphate removal facilities package in Khurais, Saudi Arabia valued at about US$50.4 million ($72.5 million).
Italian group Saipem is the engineering and construction contractor for the project to expand the daily production capacity at the Khurais Central Processing Facility by 300,000 barrels of oil from the current 1.2 million barrels. The contract is to be fulfilled over one year and is expected to contribute to the financials of Hyflux for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2016.

India’s Bhel gets Rampal contract

The Bangladesh-India Friendship Company has chosen BHEL to construct the 1,320MW coal power plant in Rampal close to the Sundarbans. The signing of the contract is expected to take place within a few days and construction of the power plant would start immediately. BHEL would have to arrange the finance from the Indian Exim Bank on behalf of the Friendship Company. Of this finance, $1.39 billion will be in foreign currency and another $101 million in local currency. The exact financing of the project can be disclosed after completing the financial closure. The Friendship Company will fund 30 percent of the project cost and the rest comes in the form of loans. Friendship Company plans to complete the task by the end of 2019.

Japan’s Toyo Construction Co. and JFE Engineering Corp. have won a contract to build a new container terminal at the Port of Thilawa near Yangon, Myanmar. The scope of work by the Japanese duo involves the removal of 208,000 cubic meters of sediment and construction of an 18-hectare container yard, and two jacket-type berths with depths of 10 meters (32 feet), lengths of 400 meters and widths of 40 meters. Under the contract, Honeywell will supply a 250 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) modular gas processing plant which will separate LPG from natural gas at Ca Mau facility near the southern tip of Vietnam.
Scope of work also includes automation technologies including Experion Process Knowledge System (PKS), LEAP, Smartline field transmitters, Safety Manager and SmartRadar FlexLine. The factory-built modular gas plant, which is planned to be commissioned at the site in 2017.The consortium of Posco Engineering and PetroVietnam Technical Services is the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor for the $498m project.

The contract was announced after the Ontario government sanctioned the overall $12.8-billion refurbishment beginning this fall designed to extend the life of Darlington’s four Candu reactors by another 30 years. SNC-Lavalin and Aecon will replace main reactor components. Each of the reactors will be taken out of service for about three years apiece until the overall job is completed in about a decade.

Egypt’s Orascom Construction says wins $420 mln power plant contract

Egypt’s Orascom Construction has said that it has been awarded a $420 million contract to revamp two government-owned power stations. Orascom was part of a consortium that completed the build of the Assiut and West Damietta plants in the third quarter of 2015. The plants, which are operational and have a combined capacity of 1,500 megawatts, will now be converted to a so-called combined cycle from a simple cycle. A combined cycle re-uses waste products, increasing capacity by 50 percent with no additional fuel intake.

Suzlon receives 197.40 MW repeat order from IPP company

As per the deal, Sterlite Grid will build, own, operate and maintain approx 300 km of 765 kV Double Circuit system strengthening line from Jharsugda to Raipur and approx 50 km of 400 kV Double Circuit line between OPGC Power Project and Jharsugda with approximate capital expenditure of Rs 1,250 crore.

L&T consortium bags Rs 2,450 crore ONGC order

Larsen & Toubro’s hydrocarbon arm, in consortium with US-based engineering company McDermott, has bagged an offshore contract from ONGC worth Rs 2,450 crores for the development of the latter’s Vashishta and S1 deepwater fields situated off the east coast of India. L&T’s arm L&T Hydrocarbon will execute part of the order worth Rs 640 crore.
The EPC order entails supply and installation of subsea structures at seabed in water depths ranging from 200 metres to 700 metres and subsea pipelines interconnecting subsea wells to ONGC’s onshore facilities at Odalarevu in Andhra Pradesh. The project is part of ONGC’s strategy to monetize its deepwater oil and gas fields on the East Coast. Upon final commissioning, the facilities will add about 4.55 mmscmd of hydrocarbon gas per day to India’s domestic gas production.

(MPTDC) received the Notices of Award from both the city of Cebu and the municipality of Cordova for the financing, design, construction, implementation, operation and maintenance of the Cebu-Cordova Bridge.The project to be undertaken by MPTDC as well as the city government of Cebu and municipal government of Cordova involves the construction of the connections to Cebu City and Cordova, the main bridge structure, viaduct, causeway, roadway, and toll facilities.
The 8.25-kilometer bridge is located south of Mandaue Bridge and would take off from Cebu South Coastal Road crossing the Mactan channel to Mactan Island. The joint venture would source funds for the project from a combination of loans from local banks and equity contribution. The construction of the project is targeted to start next year and would be completed by 2020.

Jacobs wins contracts with Biogen, NASA

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. has won a contract with biotech company Biogen as well as a separate contract worth nearly $128 million with NASA. Under its agreement with Biogen(Nasdaq: BIIB), Pasadena-based Jacobs(NYSE: JEC) will provide engineering, procurement and construction management services for Biogen’s new manufacturing facility in Luterbach, Switzerland. Financial terms of the deal weren’t disclosed. Work on the facility was expected to begin in late 2015 with the plant fully operational by 2021.

Bombardier wins Guadalajara, Mexico light rail contract

Bombardier has won a light rail contract in Mexico valued at approximately US$44 million. The company will build 12 TEG-15 light rail vehicles for the Electric Urban Train System of Guadalajara, a transit system serving the central Mexico City.

Georgia DOT awards 17 transportation project contracts valued at $97.1 million

The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) awarded 17 transportation project contracts valued at $97.1 million for November, bringing the 2015 total to more than $1 billion.
The November projects included $66 million for two widening and construction projects, roughly $20 million for 10 resurfacing projects and $5.6 million for three bridge projects.
Projects include:
In Ware County, a $34.1 million project will widen and reconstruct 6.1 miles on US 84/SR 38 beginning west of Ruskin Road (CR 88) and extending east of Wadley Road (CR 294). The contractor is East Coast Asphalt, LLC of Douglas, Ga. and the completion date is May 31, 2018.
In Brooks and Colquitt counties a 9.6 mile $32 million widening and reconstruction project for SR 133 from Old Quitman Adel Road (CR 1) to Old Berlin Road (CR 256) was awarded to The Scruggs Company of Hahira, Ga. The completion date is April 30, 2018.
In Dade, Richmond and Warren counties, 10 resurfacing projects covering some 63 miles and valued at $19.3 million.
In Lanier County a bridge construction project, valued at $3.7 million, was awarded under the Legislature’s $100 million bridge bond appropriation. The project includes construction of a bridge and approaches on SR 64 over Five Mile Creek and Ten Mile Creek. The contractor is Southeastern Site Development, Inc. of Newnan, Georgia, and the completion date is October 31, 2017. Since fiscal year 2016 began in July, a total of 14 bridge bond projects valued at $42.9 million have been awarded. The remaining 11 bridges to be funded with bonds will be bid out in the coming months.
In Richmond County, 1.2 miles of turn lane construction and intersection improvements, valued at almost $5.4 million, is scheduled to be completed on November 30.
In Fulton County, intersection enhancements were awarded for various locations on SR 139 to improve efficiency with traffic signal upgrades and ITS installation. The contract, valued at $652,866, was awarded to Knight & Associates, Inc. of Atlanta with a completion date of September 30.

MBL Infra rises on bagging two projects worth Rs 609.12 crore

MBL Infrastructures (MBL) has bagged two projects aggregating to Rs 609.12 crore.
The first project is for rehabilitation and upgradation of Goharganj to Bhopal Section of NH-12 from existing km. 255/300 to km 301/200 including construction of Obedullaganj bypass from existing km 278/450 of NH-12 to existing Km 3/600 of NH-69 in the state of Madhya Pradesh to four -lanes with paved shoulders under NHDP- III through EPC basis contract for the contract price of Rs 583.50 crore from Ministry of Road Transport & Highways. The project has been awarded to a consortium led by MBL Infrastructures and is to be executed over a period of 24 months from the appointed date.
The second project is for maintenance of Guwahati bypass on NH-37 (Km. 146.172 to 163.895) for the contract price of Rs 25.62 Crore from National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) in the State of Assam. The execution period of the project is 12 months.

Dubai awards key bridge project contract

Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has awarded a Dh120 million ($33 million) contract for the construction of a bridge extending from Al Khail Road to the Financial Center Road in Dubai, UAE. The project, which is being developed in co-ordination with Emaar Properties, is expected to be completed in early 2017.
The project comprises the construction of a two-lane bridge linking Al Khail Road with the Financial Center Road over a sector extending 920 m in length with a width ranging from 11 to 15 meters. The bridge would be built on individual piers and pass across the Dubai Water Canal. It also covers lighting and infrastructural works including the diversion of impacted utility lines such as water, electricity, irrigation, sewage and telecommunication lines.

It also includes adding an entry point to the parking terminal attached to the expansion of the Dubai Mall. The expansion includes a department for fashion shops over and above the existing retail area, thus adding about 75,000 sq m to the Mall in addition to 25,000 sq m to the parking areas.

Westinghouse Electric Awards Two Nuclear Power Plant Subcontracts to Fluor Corp. (FLR)

Fluor Corporation has announced that it was awarded two subcontracts by Westinghouse Electric Company to manage the construction workforce at two Westinghouse AP1000 nuclear power plant projects in Georgia and in South Carolina – the first majority-owned and operated by Southern Company and the second owned and operated by SCANA/Santee Cooper.
As a subcontractor to Westinghouse, Fluor will manage the majority of construction labor at Southern Company’s Plant Vogtle Units 3 & 4 near Waynesboro, Georgia, and at two additional nuclear electric generating units for SCANA/Santee Cooper at the V.C. Summer Nuclear Station in Fairfield County, South Carolina.

Attock Cement selects Hefei for new plant

Attock Cement Pakistan Ltd has awarded a contract to Hefei Cement Research and Design Institute (China) for setting up new 4000tpd cement manufacturing plant with all standard parts and accessories in Hub, Balochistan. In August the manufacturer has informed the Karachi Stock Exchange that its board approved a proposal to increase its production capacity by installing a new plant with an estimated cost of US$120m at its existing site.

Punj Lloyd bags Rs. 1,555-cr worth highway projects

Punj Lloyd has said that it has won four highway projects worth Rs. 1,555 crore in Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Punjab from the central government.
The engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) projects in Bihar, Chhattisgarh and Odisha have been awarded to Punj Lloyd by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) while the order in Punjab has been won from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MORTH).
The company has said that the Bihar project worth Rs. 567 crore entails four—laning of 60 km of the Simaria—Khagaria section of NH31.
The Chhattisgarh package, worth Rs. 513 crore, comprises the four/six laning of 48 km of the Raipur—Simga section of NH200 in Chhattisgarh. This contract includes the bypass and 22 supporting structures like flyover, vehicular underpass (VUP) and bridges
In Odisha it has been entrusted with the rehabilitation and upgradation of four laning with paved shoulders of 50 km of the Talebani to Sambalpur section of NH6 in the state of Odisha. The contract is worth Rs. 392 crore
The fourth contract in Punjab, won in joint venture with VRC Constructions (I) Pvt Ltd, has been awarded to Punj Lloyd by MORTH for four laning of 35 km of the Tallewal—Barnala section of the NH 71. The construction of the Barnala bypass and 13 other supporting infrastructure including flyovers, passenger underpass (PUP), road over bridge (ROB) & bridges, also fall under Punj Lloyd’s scope of work.

Midas Holdings wins 1.28 billion yuan metro train contract

Midas Holdings’ joint venture company Nanjing SR Puzhen Rail Transport Co (NPRT) has won a 1.28 billion yuan (S$278.7 million) metro train contract for the Guiyang Rail Transit Line 1. The contract was awarded by Guiyang Urban Rail Transit Co, is scheduled for delivery by the end of next year (between 2016 and 2017). NPRT is a Sino-foreign joint venture, involved in the development, manufacture and sale of metro trains, bogies and their related parts.

IRB bags Rs 10,050 crore Jammu & Kashmir tunnel project; shares jump by over 6%

IRB Infrastructure Developers (IRB Infra) has received a Letter of Award from Ministry of Road Transport and Highways for the construction, operation and maintenance of the longest tunnel in South-East Asia, Zozila pass Tunnel in Jammu & Kashmir (J&K). The scope of the project includes constructing approaches on NH-1 (Srinagar Sonmarg Gumri Road) on design, build, finance, operate and transfer (annuity) basis. The project also involves construction of tunnel spanning length of 14.08 km and approach road of 10.8 km with three vertical ventilation shafts, snow gallery of 700 meters and avalanche protection measures. The construction of the tunnel is scheduled to be completed in seven years and the concession period is 22 years. Estimated cost of the order is around Rs.10,050 crore.

Westar strikes deal for wind energy near Wichita

A Kansas electric utility has announced a new wind power contract in south-central Kansas. The Topeka Capital-Journal has reported that Westar Energy has a deal with an affiliate of NextEra Energy Resources to buy 200 megawatts of wind energy west of Wichita. The deal is for power produced by the Kingman Wind Energy Center in Kingman County, a wind farm that’s expected to be in service in early 2017.

Mitsui-led consortium wins $2.3 billion Oman order

Japan’s Mitsui & Co has said that its consortium had been awarded a $2.3 billion power plant project in Oman. The consortium will build a total 3.15-gigawatt gas-fired combined cycle power generation units for Ibri and Sohar-3 power generation projects.

Mitsui holds 50.1 percent in the consortium, with 44.9 percent held by Saudi Arabia’s ACWA Power and 5 per cent by Dhofar International Development and Investment Holding Co. SAOG ( DIDIC).
The contract is set to be signed next month, and the two power plants are set to start commercial operations in 2019. Mitsui will operate the plants and sell power under a 15-year contract.

Doosan Heavy bags 670 bln won power plant order

Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction Co., South Korea’s top power equipment maker has said that it has clinched a 670 billion (US$566 million) order to build a power plant in Vietnam. Under a deal with Hanoi-based Vietnam Electricity (EVN), Doosan Heavy will construct the 600-MW power plant in Binh Thuan by August 2019. Doosan Heavy will take charge of the entire process, including the engineering, procurement and construction of the facility.

GE wins $1 billion Saudi power plant contract

GE has been awarded a contract worth almost US$1bn (Dh3.7bn) to design and build gas turbines for a new power plant at Waad Al Shamal in northern Saudi Arabia. The combined cycle power plant is being built for Saudi Electricity Company and will support the development of the $7.5bn phosphate mining complex under construction for a joint venture between Saudi Arabian Mining Company, Maaden, The Mosaic Company and Saudi Basic Industries.
GE said its 48-month contract involves the delivery of the power plant, including four heavy duty gas turbines and one steam turbine. It will produce 1,390 megawatts, which is enough to power more than 500,000 Saudi homes.
