Idukki Bags Rs 153-crore Power Project

In order to solve the electricity issues in Idukki, Kerala, a project worth Rs.153 crore would be implemented soon. The project involves changing of all damaged and outdated analog meters, providing service connection to all those who are coming under BPL, setting up of around 200 transformers and renovation of all electric lines. As part of the project, 11 KV lines would be installed along 12 km at Mailapuzha-Makkuvalli, Manayathadam and Kaithappara areas, besides providing electricity connection to around 148 families. The fund has been granted as part of the Central Government’s Deendayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana.

CMI trades jubilantly on bagging order worth Rs 24.65 crore from BPCL

CMI has received order for supply of Fire Alarm and Plant Communication cable on June 29, 2015 for total value of Rs 24.65 crore from Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL) for integrated refinery expansion project at Kochi refinery, as per inspection and testing by Engineers India. The company will complete the execution of the order by November 24, 2015.

Kalpataru Power Transmission bags Rs 1,035 crore orders

Engineering firm Kalpataru Power Transmission (KPTL) has said that it has bagged contracts worth Rs 1,035 crore in both domestic and international markets. The company secured three transmission line projects together valued at Rs 600 crore with one each in Kenya, Qatar and Cambodia. In its railway division, the company has bagged four contracts, in which KPTL’s share is around Rs 325 crore. KPTL has also bagged a contract valued at Rs 110 crore from the Power Grid Corporation for 765 kV direct current 86 km Angul-Srikakulam Pooling Station transmission line.

Crompton Greaves gains on bagging two orders

Avantha Group Company Crompton Greaves (CG) has bagged two important orders, one for 8 bays of 138kV, 60Hz, AIS Switchyard in the Philippines for MINERGY Coal Corporation and the other for 30 MVA, 132kV mobile substations for Wellington Turbines, a Venezuelan enterprise. The scope of work for both projects includes design, manufacture, supply, construction and installation and commissioning of the substations. The project in Philippines will be executed by September 2015. It will facilitate power transmission to the Philippines grid through 3 X 55MW coal fired thermal power projects, being installed by MINERGY Coal Corporation. The mobile substations’ project for Venezuela will facilitate electricity transmission for the floating type oil fired power plant being setup by Wellington Turbines, 100kms from Caracas port. Mobile substations are autonomous systems and are designed by CG as a turnkey solution

Bombardier bags Rs 1500 crore-order for supplying 162 ‘Movia’ cars to DMRC

Rail technology major Bombardier Transportation, which has a manufacturing facility in Vadodara, has won a contract to supply 162 ‘Movia’ metro cars to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (DMRC).
The order is valued at approximately Rs 1,500 crore, and delivery will begin in the third quarter of 2016 and is expected to end in early 2018.

Ashok Leyland wins $82-mn bus contract from Senegal

Dakar Dem Dikk, a public transport organization under the aegis of the Ministry of Transport, Senegal, has commissioned a comprehensive logistics programme with Ashok Leyland that comprises supply of 475 buses, genuine spares, assistance in development of workshops, training and consultancy on fleet management, and structuring of vehicle tracking and monitoring systems.

L&T bags new orders from Domestic and International

L&T’s Metallurgical and Material Handling (L&T-MMH) has won a prestigious EPC order from Emirates Global Aluminum (EGA) for its greenfield alumina refinery development project in Al Taweelah, Abu Dhabi, UAE. The scope involves engineering, procurement, fabrication, erection and associated works for the tankages package.

In the domestic arena, L&T-MMH won EPC orders from SAIL for the installation of a slab caster, and suppressed combustion system along with replacement of basic oxygen furnace converter for modernization of its Steel Melt Shop at Bokaro. L&T-MMH has also secured orders from its existing customers both in Steel & Material Handling Segment.

The funding is for a development project around bioplastic polymers, which aims at developing new products for textiles and paper in which bioplastic polymers will be an integral part, the company said in a statement.The project will be performed during a period of 2 years in collaboration with the institute of surface chemistry (YKI), which is part of SP Technical Research Institute of Sweden.Vinnova will fund the project through its programme ‘Innovation projects in companies’.

Andritz secures equipment order for 450-MW HPP in India

Andritz AG, the hydropower unit of Austrian technology group, has said that it has won contract from the Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd to supply all the electromechanical equipment for the 450-MW Shongtong Karchham run-of-the-river hydropower plant (HPP) in Himachal Pradesh. The HPP, with an underground power house, will be built on the river Satluj in dist., Kinnaur. Its commissioning is expected to occur in 2019. German lender KfW is funding the project.

sPower secures PPAs for 19.4 MW of solar in California

US power producer Sustainable Power Group, also known as sPower, has said that it has signed long-term off-take contracts for a trio of solar projects with a combined capacity of 19.4 MW in direct current (DC). More specifically, the company has obtained 20-year power purchase agreements (PPAs) for the 11.7-MW Aspiration Solar G, 3.7-MW Central Antelope Dry Ranch B and 4-MW Lancaster WAD B facilities in California. Together, the three photovoltaic (PV) plants are expected to generate enough power for over 2,500 homes upon completion in 2016.

Bouygues wins $200m Swiss hospital contract

Losinger Marazzi, a Swiss subsidiary of Bouygues, has been chosen to build the 200-bed LimmiViva hospital in the town of Schlieren on the outskirts of Zürich. The 50,000m² hospital will be eight storeys high and will incorporate a car park and technical facilities on two basement levels. There will also be a restaurant, administrative offices, laboratories, x-ray facilities, five operating theatres, an accident and emergency department and a maternity unit. Work has already begun on project which is being tendered by the Spitalverband Limmattal Group. The project was devised by architects BFB Architekten and Brunet Saunier Architecture and will have a construction value of $200m. Three hundred people will be working on the site at peak periods. The fitting out phase will begin in autumn 2016 and the hospital is scheduled to open to the public in 2018.

2. Received order worth Rs 31.27 crore for construction of 2×20 MVA 132/33KV substation at ‘Ghens’ in Baragarh district and associated 132KV transmission line form proposed 220/132/33KV Baragarh substation.
3. It has bagged the order worth Rs 25.27 crore for construction of 132KV SC line from 132/33KV Kesinga Grid substation to 132/33KV Junagarh Grid substation with construction of feeder bays at each substation.

Kerala awards Vizhinjam port project to Adani

The Kerala cabinet has decided to award the multi-thousand crore Vizhinjam international port and deep-water container transshipment terminal to Adani Ports and SEZ. This is subject to approval from the Election Commission in view of campaigning for the by-elections to the Aruvikkara Assembly constituency. But the state government hoped to get the necessary clearance from the Election Commission since the project was conceived much earlier and was under processing at various levels.The Adanis have demanded a grant of Rs. 1,635 crore. This is being made available as a viability grant fund to be shared equally by the state and Central Governments, a first for a port project.
The Adanis will invest on their own Rs. 2,454 crore.

MPIC Bags P55.5-B CALAX Project

SR1.48 billion contract to expand Al-Qassim airport

The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) has announced a SR1.48 billion contract with a private firm for the expansion of Prince Naif Regional Airport in Al-Qassim. The three-year contract was awarded to Muhaidib Contracting Co. and is part of the airport’s plans for the future when 3 million passengers will be served annually on both domestic and international flights, according to Mohammed Al-Mijlad, the airport general manager. Al-Mijlad said the plan included main building halls with an area of 60,000 square meters, a VIP lounge of 3,500 square meters, a mosque covering 1,600 square meters and the airport administration building which will measure 2,800 square meters. The contract will also include a new airport passenger terminal with an area of 60,000 square meters,” he said. “That will be divided into four floors, including departure and arrival lounges and baggage claim area.

Lockheed Martin Corporation Signs $920 Million F-35 Contract

Lockheed Martin Corporation has announced that it has signed a contract for supplying 94 F-35 military aircraft to the US Air Force, Turkey, Italy, Norway, Australia, and other countries. The company will receive $920.3 million inadvance to purchase the basic materials required for the production. The full value of the 94 F-35 aircraft has not been disclosed yet. However, it is expected that the production order will be completed by fiscal year 2019. Lockheed Martin also has pending orders as per its contract worth $391 billion signed with the US government to supply 2,443 F-35 jets.

Alstom T&D India wins contract worth €16 mn

Under the contract, the company would provide ten 765 kV 500 MVA 1-ph auto transformers. These would be installed at two locations at the 765kV Gas Insulated Substation situated at Vemagiri, Andhra Pradesh, and 765kV Air Insulated substation at Vindhyachal, Uttar Pradesh.

Samsung-led consortium awarded Korean construction contract

A consortium comprising South Korean construction companies Samsung C&T, Doosan and Hanhwa Construction has been awarded the KRW 1.18 trillion ($1.06 billion) contract by Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power (KHNP), to build units 5 and 6 of the Shin Kori nuclear power plant. Construction of Shin Kori 5 is scheduled to begin in September 2016, with that of unit 6 set to start one year later. Unit 5 is due to enter commercial operation in March 2021 and unit 6 in March 2022. KHNP noted that it plans to issue a tender for the construction of units 3 and 4 of the Shin Hanul plant during the second half of 2016. Shin Hanul units 3 and 4 will also be APR1400s. Construction of these will start in 2018, with both units expected to be operating by 2023.

Suzlon rises on bagging another 90 MW order from ReNew Power

Suzlon Group has won another order for 90.30 MW turnkey project from its existing customer ReNew Power, an Independent Power Producer (IPP) company. Suzlon will install its S97 90m WTGs (wind turbine generator) with rated capacity of 2.1MW at Ellutla site in Ananthpur district, Andhra Pradesh. The order of 90 MW from ReNew Power in Andhra Pradesh is the fourth repeat order from ReNew and the second order in the Q1FY16.

BHEL bags huge order from Telangana

The Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has secured the single-largest order for setting up a 4,000 MW (5 x 800 MW) thermal power project with supercritical parameters at Damaracherla in Nalgonda district in Telangana from the Telangana State Power Generation Corporation Limited (TSGENCO) on engineering, procurement, and construction basis. The project named as Yadadri Thermal Power Project, estimated at Rs. 17,950 crore. The project would be carried out on fast track basis with both BHEL and TSGENCO setting up teams to expedite clearances and speedy execution of the project. BHEL’s scope of work in the project includes design, engineering, manufacture, supply, construction, erection, testing, and commissioning of 5 x 800 MW thermal sets.

GPT Infraprojects wins orders worth Rs 62.50 crore

Melati Ehsan Holdings Bhd’s 49%-owned associate firm B.H.O. Melati Sdn Bhd has won a 30-year concession to develop Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) Teaching Hospital in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, and carry out the asset management services. The construction of the facilities and infrastructure would cost RM652.98mil. The asset management services, which cover the asset replacement programme and maintenance services, would start on UMS’s issuance of the certificate of acceptance on the facilities and infrastructure. The 30-year concession period starts from the date of the fulfillment of conditions precedent or the construction commencement date, whichever is later. The construction is expected to be completed within three years from the construction commencement date.

Megawide secures DoubleDragon contract

Siemens, Egypt firm contract for 2GW wind as part of €8bn deal

Siemens has signed energy contracts worth €8bn ($9.02bn) with Egypt, among them deals to install 2GW of wind capacity and build a rotor blade factory in the North African country. The company will deliver up to 12 wind farms in the Gulf of Suez and West Nile areas, comprising around 600 wind turbines and an installed capacity of 2GW. The company will also build a rotor blade manufacturing facility in Egypt’s Ain Soukhna region, which will provide training and employment for up to 1,000 people. The facility is scheduled to go into operation in the second half of 2017.

French IT services giant Capgemini has secured a multi-million euro contract extension from telecom equipment-maker Nokia. The additional three-year agreement will see Capgemini continuing to optimise Nokia’s order management operations worldwide. Capgemini started working with Nokia since 2010. The contract, which was due to expire in 2017, has now been extended to October 2020.

Keltron bags Rs.7-crore orders for defence systems

The Aroor unit of Keltron has bagged order worth Rs.4.5 crore for manufacture and supply of two towed Receiver Array (TRA) for naval vessels through tender from the Naval Physical and Oceanographic Laboratory (NPOL), Kochi. Keltron, the manufacturing partner of DRDO for Sonar Arrays, has to supply the systems within six months. The Karakulam unit of Keltron in Thiruvananthapuram has also secured orders from Bharat Electronic Ltd., (BEL), Bangalore, worth Rs.2.85 crore for the supply of three third generations Underwater Acoustic Communication System.

Approximate contract value is Rs. 369 crore.

DFCC awards Rs 5,080-cr Contract for laying of Railway Tracks

A major contract worth Rs 5,080 crore has been awarded to GIL SIL — a joint venture of GMR Infrastructure Ltd and SEW Infrastructure Ltd — by Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation (DFCC) for laying of a 402-km -long double track between the Mughalsarai-New Bhaupur(Kanpur) section of the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor. The World Bank contract entails design and construction of civil structure and track work involving embankments, bridges, track, stations, maintenance depots and other buildings between Kanpur and Mughalsarai stations in Uttar Pradesh.
DFCC, a Special Purpose Vehicle, is engaged in the planning, construction, operation and maintenance of the dedicated freight corridors. In the first phase, two corridors — namely the Eastern Corridor from Ludhiana to Dankuni (1839-km) and the Western Corridor from Dadri to Jawaharlal Nehru Port (1520-km) — are being constructed. The entire Western Corridor project is being funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), while work on the Eastern Corridor from Mughalsarai to Ludhiana is being funded by World Bank.

Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) has said that it has won an order in Poland for 83 MW of wind turbines. The order is to supply, install and commission 25 units of its V126-3.3 MW machine at the Korytnica North project. The contract comes from Wind Field Korytnica Sp Zoo and also includes a 15-year service agreement. The turbines are scheduled to be delivered and commissioned in the fourth quarter of 2015.

TEPCO, Mitsubishi win Qatar thermal plant order

Tech Group, the largest construction group in Ajman, says it has secured contracts worth a total of US$ 23.7 million to provide various construction solutions for the Ajman Corniche Residence (ACR), a mixed-use property development being built in the UAE emirate. Among the contracts awarded to the group is a US$ 13.6 million deal, which will be carried out by its electrical and mechanical arm, EM Tech, in what is the largest ongoing MEP (mechanical, electrical and plumbing) project in Ajman. The contract is set to be completed by early 2017.

Willerby Landscapes secures London Garden Bridge contract

Willerby Landscapes has been chosen as the landscaping contractor for the new Garden Bridge, scheduled to open in 2018. The Garden Bridge will be a new pedestrian footbridge with 6,000 sq m of garden featuring 270 trees, 2,000 shrubs, hedging plants and climbers, over 22,000 hardy perennials, ferns and grasses and 64,000 bulbs. Willerby Landscapes Ltd, based at Edenbridge in Kent, won the contract with its innovative proposals for sourcing, planting and maintaining the vegetation for the first five years of the project. The Garden Bridge will comprise five planting zones reflecting London’s rich horticultural history, from the marshlands and garden markets of the South Bank to the cultivated ornamental gardens of the Northbank. The gardens will feature plants, trees and shrubs native to the UK, northern Europe and other parts of the world, carefully designed to frame and enhance views of the iconic landmarks of London.

IRB Infra bags NHAI’s Rs 2,650-cr Agra-Etawah project

Alstom, NASL win Rs 206 crore contract from Gujarat State Electricity Corporation

Alstom and NTPC-Alstom Power Services Ltd (NASL) have been awarded a Rs 206 crore contract by Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited (GSECL) for renovating and modernising two steam turbines at the Ukai and Wanakbori thermal power stations in the state. Alstom will perform full shaft line retrofits of the 200 mw BHEL-supplied LMZ design steam turbines at unit 4 of the 1,350 mw Ukai power station and unit 3 of the 1,470 mw Wanakbori power station. The scope of each project includes engineering, supply, erection, commissioning and testing. The projects are scheduled to be commissioned in 2017.

Suzlon bags 98 MW order from Mytrah

Suzlon has bagged an order from Mytrah Energy to install 47 wind turbine generators (WTGs) of the S97 120m Hybrid Tower with rated capacity of 2.1 MW each in Telangana. This is the third repeat order awarded by Mytrah to Suzlon Energy, which has already commissioned a 310 MW wind energy project for Mytrah so far. A further 205 MW is under execution in Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh.

DHS S&T Awards Final Contract For Constructing National Bio, Agro-Defense Facility

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate (S&T) announced a $834 million award by S&T’s procurement support partner, the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC), for the final phase of construction of the National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility (NBAF) in Manhattan, Kansas. The State of Kansas is providing $307 million, and the City of Manhattan is providing $5 million towards the total acquisition cost inclusive of planning, design, construction and commissioning of the $1.25 billion facility. The award is the beginning of the third and final phase of construction of the NBAF. Site preparation was completed in 2012 with funding provided by the State of Kansas. The central utility plant (CUP) is expected to be completed in October of this year. The $80 million CUP, which houses the boilers, chillers, emergency diesel generators, and other support elements for the main laboratory facility, was funded with $40 million in federal appropriations and $40 million in gift funding from the State of Kansas. Construction is expected to be completed in 2020 with full operational capability achieved by 2022.

Alstom bags order worth Rs. 226 cr from PowerGrid

The substations will be located at Betul in Madhya Pradesh and Navsari in Gujarat. The first 400/220 kV GIS substation constructed at Betul will transmit power generated from the Mouda Super Thermal Power Plant – II. The second installation at Navsari will carry power generated at the Kakrapar Atomic Power Station. Both substations will feed power to the national grid.

Kirloskar Brothers bags repeat order from Turkish company

Global fluid management company Kirloskar Brothers Ltd has bagged a repeat order from Calik Enerji of Turkey, for supply of pumps for its 230 MW CCPP project in Georgia. KBL has received its first order from Calik Enerji in 2010-11 for supply of 24 units of various horizontal split case and vertical turbine pumps for the 480 MW NAVOI CCPP project in Uzbekistan. KBL has also provided supervision support on site during the installation and commissioning of pumps. All pumps were successfully commissioned, and systems were handed over to Calik Enerji by May 2012.

Phoenix Solar bags 1.96-MWp rooftop PV job in Singapore

Phoenix Solar AG, a Germany firm, has won a competitive tender for the design, procurement and construction of the systems through its Singapore-based subsidiary Phoenix Solar Pte Ltd. The contract that the company will be in charge of the operation and maintenance (O&M) and performance monitoring for an initial period of one year. The grid-connected solar arrays will use 7,536 modules made by Norwegian firm REC Solar ASA, while Germany’s SMA Solar Technology AG will supply central inverters. Upon completion in 2016, they are expected to generate more than 2.2 GWh of electricity per year.

NTPC Ltd has awarded solar PV project contracts to Tata Power Solar, Lanco Solar Energy, BHEL and Sterling and Wilson for setting up of 250 MW in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh. This 250 MW solar PV project is part of 1,000 MW ultra mega solar PV plant taken up by NTPC close to Kadiri in Anantapur. The plant will come up in a phased manner and the first phase of 250 MW tenders have been finalised. Tata Power Solar Systems Ltd of Bangalore has been awarded contract for 100 MW, Lanco Solar Energy (50 MW), BHEL (50 MW) and Sterling & Wilson, a Shapoorji Pallonji Group promoted company (50 MW). NTPC has recently inked power purchase agreements (PPAs) with two AP discoms for 250 MW and the phase-I agreement entails supply of power at Rs 6.16 per unit. The phase-I is based on domestic modules and other phases could be either domestic or combination of domestic and other sources.

Alstom T&D bags 30 million euros orders to build substations in Bihar

Alstom T&D India, a unit of French firm Alstom, has said that it has secured three orders worth 30 million (about Rs 220 crore) from the Bihar government to build sub-stations in the state. This project is part of India’s 12th Five-Year Plan to strengthen Bihar’s 220 kV transmission network. The substations will strengthen the transmission network at 220 kV level with a potential to be further upgraded to 400 kV in future. Alstom T&D India will construct the sub-stations on turnkey basis.

Vestas will handle supply, installation, foundation work and commissioning of 10 units of its V126-3.3 MW turbines for Austrian firm Smart-energy Betriebs. The V126 turbines were being deployed at the site as they were best suited for harvesting power at medium- to low-wind sites. Delivery of turbines for the project — to be commissioned in the second quarter of next year — will begin in the fourth quarter of 2015. In order to support Daimler’s expansion activities, MSSL will invest in two new plants, one each in the USA and Hungary which will enable SMRP BV to be closer to Daimler’s vehicle assembly plants. The company’s plant in Hungary will be located close to Daimler’s operations in Kecskemet, while the US facility would come up in the region around Tuscaloosa, close to Daimler’s assembly plant. The company, however, did not disclose investment details for the new plants.

The customer is Sempra U.S. Gas & Power, LCC and the turbines will be installed at the Black Oak project in Minnesota, U.S. The contract covers supply and commissioning of the wind turbines, as well as a five-year service agreement. Turbine delivery is expected to take place in the second quarter of 2016, with commissioning expected in the fourth quarter of 2016.

It has received an order worth Rs. 153 crore in Poland to supply transmission towers and a turnkey contract from supply to commissioning of 110 km transmission lines in Botswana worth Rs. 115 crore.
The company has also received a contract worth Rs. 35 crore from Gail for laying pipelines.

Gamesa bags 194MW in India

Gamesa is to supply a total of 194MW to six wind farms to be built in various states in India. The Spanish manufacturer will build under turnkey arrangements two wind farms of 50MW and 108MW for an Indian independent power producer in Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. The two wind projects will be equipped with 25 and 54 of the companys G97 2MW Class S turbines. The company will handle all the infrastructure needed to install and operate both projects and will maintain the two facilities under long-term service contracts. The projects are slated for commissioning in July 2015 and February 2016,
Gamesa will also supply a further 18 G97 2 MW units to four wind farms to be built in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. The company said the contracts also include operation and maintenance services over the medium and long term.

$89 million construction contract awarded for new federal courthouse in Mobile

W.G. Yates & Sons has bagged $89 million contract from the federal government to build a new federal courthouse in downtown Mobile. W.G. Yates & Sons will oversee the construction project from its office in Biloxi, Miss. A pair of architectural firms from Washington, D.C., URS and Hartman-Cox Architects, are also part of the team. The team will design and build the five-story courthouse together and hope to start construction next year. The 155,000-square-foot courthouse is projected to open in summer 2018 across from the current courthouse. The cost of the contract, $89,294,573, includes the renovation of the John Achibald Campbell Courthouse.

Contract to build new Canberra MRT station on N-S Line awarded for $90 million

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has announced that the China State Construction Engineering Corporation (Singapore) has been awarded the contract for $90 million. The contract is to construct the Canberra MRT station, the job to build the new station on the North-South Line (NSL). The construction will start soon. Canberra station is the second MRT station in Singapore to be built on an existing rail line, with the first being Dover Station on the East-West Line, which opened in 2001.

IL&FS Engineering and Construction Company Ltd has bagged a Rs. 326.99-crore rail contract from Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd.The contract involves construction of elevated structures (viaduct) of about 3.9 km length from Mysore road station to Pattanagere station, including four elevated metro stations in the west extension of the East-West Corridor of Bangalore metro rail project, phase-2.The project is to be completed in 27 months from the date of issue of letter of acceptance. The Hyderabad-based engineering and infrastructure company is executing two more contracts for metro rail projects. These include a Rs. 255.84-crore project for RMRG (Phase-II), involving construction of a double-deck elevated viaduct, and the other a Rs. 84-crore contract for Gurgaon (south extension) involving construction of elevated stations.

UrbanWind secures £30m to fund wind turbine deployment

UrbanWind has announced plans to accelerate the development of a number of small and medium-sized wind farms across the UK, after inking a £30m funding deal with Zouk Capital. The company specialises in working with businesses, farmers and landowners to deploy small wind farms and claims to have about 100 sites across the country in the development appraisal phase, including a number of consented sites. The deal with private equity fund manager Zouk Capital, which has carved out a reputation for investing in clean energy assets, will see equity finance provided to projects that have secured planning permission. Under the terms of the agreement, Zouk will buy consented sites from UrbanWind and develop them through a joint venture set up between the two companies.

Meriton secures land for $3bn apartment project

The solar business too is a beneficiary as it has received orders for the turnkey construction of solar photovoltaic power plants from multiple private companies. Hudson River power line project secures final approval

A proposed 1,000-megawatt power line that will traverse the waters of Lake Champlain and the Hudson River has received final regulatory approval. Transmission Developers Inc. (TDI) has announced that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has issued a Department of the Army permit that allows Champlain Hudson Power Express lines, which will carry Canadian hydroelectric power to New York City, to be placed in waters along the proposed route. The power project now has secured all federal and state permits necessary to proceed with construction. Construction is expected to start early next year and financing still is being arranged.

Gamesa awarded tender for turnkey construction of a 220-MW wind farm in Egypt

Gamesa has signed a new contract for the turnkey construction of the Gulf of El Zayt wind farm on the Egyptian Red Sea coast. Under the scope of the agreement, Gamesa will handle the supply, installation and commissioning of a total of 110 of its G80-2.0 MW turbines, starting in September 2015.
Gamesa will also handle construction of the civil engineering and electric infrastructure needed to install and operate the facility and will provide operations and maintenance services for three years. The wind farm is expected to be commissioned during the second half of 2017. This project, which was awarded by the New & Renewable Energy Authority (NREA) by means of an international tender, will receive public financing from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

NOVA Gas Transmission (NGTL), a wholly owned subsidiary of TransCanada, has secured approval from the Canadian National Energy Board (NEB) for the development of the $1.7bn North Montney Mainline Project. The pipeline will be an expansion to NGTL’s existing Groundbirch Mainline section (Saturn Section), which is located approximately 35km south-west of Fort Street John, and will connected to the North Montney area in northeastern British Columbia (BC). Currently, the project is due to receive Governor in Council (GIC) approval for construction. The majority of the NEB members have also recommended the GIC to issue a certificate to construct and operate the pipeline. The North Montney Mainline project includes construction of a proposed 305km-long gas pipeline in the Peace River Regional District of British Columbia, Canada, in order to deliver natural gas to the existing NGTL facilities. The project also includes metering facilities, valve sites and compression facilities as well as an interconnection with TransCanada’s proposed Prince Rupert gas transmission project to provide natural gas to the proposed Pacific NorthWest (PNW) LNG liquefaction and export facility near Prince Rupert, BC.

Siemens secures order for Grand Bend Wind Project

Enel bags 420 MW projects in South African auction 4

Italian renewable energy company Enel Green Power has bagged projects for about 420 MW more of wind energy capacity in South Africa. The company has won the projects under South Africa’s Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (REIPPPP). It has won the bid for a 140-MW project in Oyster Bay and another 139-MW project in Nxuba — both in the Eastern Cape province, the third successful bid was for a 140-MW project in Karusa, Northern Cape province.
Enel is expected to complete its Eastern Cape projects by 2017 and the Northern Cape project in 2018. In the previous rounds of the REIPPPP auctions, Enel had won bids to develop two wind energy projects with a total capacity of 199 MW. It also bagged four solar power projects with a total capacity of 314 MW. In all, Enel now has 938 MW of wind and solar power projects in the pipeline.

REIPPPP round 4: BioTherm bags 251MW

China Longyuan bags 200 MW of wind deals at home

China Longyuan Power Group Corp Ltd (HKG:0916) has agreed to develop and construct as much as 200 MW of wind projects across three different provinces since the beginning of April, its parent said. The biggest deal was struck with the local government of Guiyang county, located in the province of Hunan. As part of the agreement, Longyuan’s Hubei-based unit will build wind facilities with a combined capacity of 100 MW there. Moving to Hubei province, the Chinese firm and Yichang city’s district of Yiling have inked a 50-MW wind project development agreement. The scheme was also given the green light by the Provincial Energy Administration. In the meantime, China Longyuan won another 50-MW wind deal in Anhui province. Its local unit will execute the job under an investment and development agreement with the government of Quanjiao county.

Egypt secures $216m from Arab Fund for Cairo power plant

Harcourt Developments wins €15m US development contract

Akuo secures USD 100m for 77.5-MW Turkish wind plan

The project loan will be extended by the World Bank’s International Finance Corp (IFC). As per the mandate letter, IFC will lead and arrange a syndicate of other multilateral agencies or commercial banks to provide the funds for the Baglar RES park near Konya, Central Anatolia Region. The 77.5-MW wind farm will consist of 24 General Electric turbines, each with a capacity of 3.2 MW. The machines will be made in Turkey and Germany, with construction works slated to begin in July. Commissioning of the facility is scheduled for January 2017.

Danish wind turbine maker Vestas Wind Systems A/S has said that it has received a 50-MW order from Hebei Fengning Construction Investment New Energy for a plant in China. The deal calls for the supply of 25 units of the V90-2.0 MW turbine for the second phase of the HECIC Fengning Senjitu wind farm. The contract, the value of which remained undisclosed, also includes a two-year Active Output Management (AOM) 4000 service agreement, as well as a VestasOnline Business SCADA solution. Vestas expects that the turbines will be delivered and commissioned by the end of 2015. So far, Hebei Fengning has placed six orders for a total 320 MW of Vestas turbines.

Siemens secures 130-turbine order for Oklahoma wind project

Siemens will provide long-term service for the turbines. The nacelles, which house the generating components of the turbine, for the project will be assembled at the Siemens’ Hutchinson plant. The blades will be manufactured at the company’s manufacturing facility in Fort Madison, Iowa. Installation of the wind turbines is expected to start this year, with the start of operations likely in the fourth quarter of 2015.

UGL wins $120m LNG contract

The company closed a CAD$115million non-recourse debt for the procurement of two PV projects in Ontario, Canada with NORD/LB Norddeutsche Landesbank Girozentrale and Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company (MassMutual). This deal in Canada acquired 12.6MW DC DiscoveryLight and 14.2MW DC Fotolight from Canadian Solar and was closed in December 2014. The projects generate power under 20 year feed-in tariff contracts for the Ontario Power Authority. RET Capital also acquired financing of US$121million for the procurement of two solar projects in California totalling over 44MW. They partnered again with NORD/LB and Massmutual in April 2014 to gain US$86.2million in financing for the 31.26MW DC McHenry Solar PV Plant in Modesto, California from K Road Power Holdings. Along with KeyBank National Association they secured financing of US$35.2million in June 2014 for the 13.1MW DC Herber Solar PV project in Imperial County, California.

Vestas secures a supply deal for 122 MW Sweden wind farm

The Canadian green energy company said CAD 491.6 million (USD 384m/EUR 363m) in financing has been secured for the 25.3-MW Boulder Creek and the 81.4-MW Upper Lillooet River run-of-river projects. Caisse de Depot et placement du Quebec and The Canada Life Assurance Company are the lenders. The financing has been arranged by The Manufacturers Life Insurance Company. The two hydropower plants (HPPs) will be located in Canada’s British Columbia province. Construction started in 2013 and commercial operation is planned to commence by the end of 2016. Innergex holds a stake of 66.67% in the developer of these projects — Creek Power Inc. The remaining 33.33% are in the hands of Ledcor Power Group Ltd.

Spain’s Abengoa SA and its partners have closed USD-660-million (EUR 627.4m) in non-recourse project financing for the 100-MW Xina Solar One concentrated solar power (CSP) project in South Africa. The funds come from development financial institutions such as the African Development Bank and the International Finance Corp (IFC) along with local investment banks including Nedbank and Rand Merchant Bank. The Xina Solar One project calls for a total investment of about USD 880 million. It involves the construction of a parabolic trough solar facility with a five-hour thermal energy storage system that will use molten salt. The park will be built near the city of Pofadder in the Northern Cape province and will be in proximity to Abengoa’s 100-MW KaXu Solar One plant, which has already commenced commercial operations as announced in the beginning of March. It already has a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) in place with local utility Eskom. Abengoa owns 40% of the Xina Solar One project. The Spanish company is also developing the 50-MW Khi Solar One CSP project in South Africa.

Work on the plant will start in a few weeks, with the facility expected to come onstream in early summer 2017. Based in Templeborough, Rotherham, the ‘Brite’ power plant will be fired with locally sourced waste wood and have a capacity of 45 MW. The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) has passed an order awarding Goa Shipyard a contract for 12 mine countermeasures vessels (MCMV) or minesweepers, worth about Rs. 30,000 crore, but through a foreign collaboration. According to GSL chairman and managing director Shekhar Mittal, this deal is of great significance as it will bring in Rs 30,000 crore to spur Goa’s shipbuilding industry with technology that is not available in any other part of the country. It will be a major game changer in a system where we waited 15 years. A fresh procurement case is to be made out under the ‘Buy and Make (Indian)’ category for the MCMVs now. Foreign collaboration would be invited for the project. The navy has a total requirement of 24 MCMVs.

It will install oil and a gas export line tying the new Coelacanth platform into existing pipeline infrastructure. There will be 22.6 m (about 36 km) of pipeline. Project management and engineering work has started in Ceona’s Houston office.

WCT JV secures RM1.2b Qatar building contract

The project involves the construction, supervision, testing and commissioning as well as completing eight blocks of two-storey, three-storey and five-storey high buildings, nine pavilions, a spa and a multi-purpose building and related facilities (Package 2). The Movenpick Spa Resort is located on a 10.1ha beachfront site at Chendering and is scheduled to be completed in 22 months.

Pakistan’s Environmental Protection Agency has announced that it has awarded a US$1.4 billion contract for development of the 720-MW Karot hydroelectric project on the Jhelum River in the Rawalpindi district of Pakistan, to a group of Pakistani and Chinese investors that includes China Three Gorges South Asia Investment Ltd. (CTGC). Published information indicates 93% of the project’s funding is through CTGC and the remaining 7% from Pakistan-based Associated Technologies (Private) Ltd. The National Transmission and Dispatch Company Ltd. (NTDC) of Pakistan plan to complete the project by 2020.
Karot Power Co. (Private) Ltd. will operate the run-of-river hydroelectric power plant, which includes an underground powerhouse that will generate electricity from four 183-MW Francis turbine units. The powerhouse will be located in the province of Punjab and the Karot Dam, a concrete gravity dam, will be built on the Jhelum River.

WA firm Civmec wins $73m Perth Stadium steel contract

A WA firm has been awarded a $73 million steelwork contract for the new $1 billion Perth Stadium at Burswood. The contract, which includes the supply and installation of more than 14,000 tonnes of structural steel, was awarded to Henderson-based Civmec Construction and Engineering. The steel will be used for the five-level stadium superstructure and fabric canopy over 85 per cent of the 60,000 seats. The supply and installation of steel is one of the largest contracts for the three-year construction phase of the new Perth Stadium. Civmec, which is also working on the Elizabeth Quay development, will start work on the new stadium this month. Construction of the stadium started in December and will take three years to complete. It is due to open in time for the start of the 2018 AFL season.

The ships would be constructed in HHIC’s Subic Bay yard.

Chinese engineering and construction company Sinohydro has awarded Alstom a US$65 million contract to provide equipment and technical services for Uganda’s Karuma hydropower plant. The 600 MW project will be located on the Victoria Nile River in Kiryadongo and Oyam districts about 15 kilometers downstream of Karuma Falls. As per the contract, Alstom (LSE: ALO) is to provide six 100 MW Francis turbine generator sets and related equipment, with Alstom Hydro China being responsible for its design, manufacture, and supervision in installation, commissioning and testing. HydroWorld.com reported that work on the $2 billion plant stalled in June 2013 due to a lack of funds before China provided a $500 million credit. The contract is the third awarded to Alstom by Sinohydro, with others including equipment for Ghana’s 400-MW Bui and the Ivory Coast’s 270-MW Soubre hydroelectric plants.

Renewable Energy Generation Limited has announced that it has secured a contract for its 12MWp Netley Landfill ground-mounted solar PV project in the first allocation round of the UK Contracts for Difference (CfD) regime. The project is being developed in partnership with Veolia, on its restored landfill site at Netley in Hampshire. The Netley Landfill Solar project, in Hampshire, was one of three solar schemes to successfully secure a CfD for delivery in 2016-17 at a strike price of £79.23 per MWh.
REG expects the project to be completed by the end of 2016.

Edilberto Tayao, Western Visayas director of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), said that the contract was awarded to HCC. HCC’s bid was 1.59 percent lower than the Approved Budget for the Contract (ABC) of P188,684,036.64. The HCC, which is also the contractor of the controversial Makati City Hall Building II, was awarded the contract for the first phase through negotiated procurement after two failed public biddings.The contract for the second phase of the project provides for the phase completion within 150 days. The second phase involves mainly finishing works including power, water and glass fixtures, and the installation of two escalators and three elevators.

IJM Corp Bhd’s wholly-owned subsidiary, IJM Construction Sdn Bhd, has bagged a RM1.19 billion contract from Kuantan Port Consortium Sdn Bhd (KPC) to construct a new deepwater terminal in Kuantan Port, Pahang. IJM has said that it will take 36 months to complete the project. According to IJM’s website, KPC was given a concession period of 30 years to operate Kuantan Port in 1998. With the development of the new terminal, IJM said it will sign a new privatisation agreement for 30 years, with an option to extend another 30 years. The group added that it plans to expand the port to cater for ships up to 200,000 deadweight tonne, with an expected operation to commence as early as 2016.

The new orders, from three major OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) with facilities in India, are for iron cast and machined cylinder blocks and heads for both the auto and non-auto sectors. Amtek would be supplying cylinder blocks with its thin-wall technology to a major passenger car company in India for its upcoming automotive engine plant in western India. It also made a fresh supply agreement with an American engine manufacturer in the non-auto sector.The third is an Indian commercial vehicle manufacturer which will source engine blocks and machining equipment from Amtek. British firm Infinergy has said that it has won contracts for Differences (CfDs) for 216 MW of Scottish onshore wind projects at a strike price of GBP 82.50 (USD 128.17/EUR 112.74) per MWh. More specifically, the wind farm developer has secured CfDs for its 177-MW Dorenell and 39-MW Tom nan Clach projects in Scotland. The two wind parks are expected to be completed in 2018-2019. Infinergy currently has permission to install 59 turbines of up to 3 MW apiece in Moray as part of the Dorenell project. It has already lodged planning applications to erect an additional four 3.3-MW turbines at the same site and thus increase the capacity of the wind farm to 190.2 MW.

Conrad Industries has won the first US order for an LNG bunkering barge. WesPac Midstream and partner Clean Marine Energy (CME) has said that they struck the deal with the US builder’s Conrad Orange Shipyard in Texas. The unit will be used to fuel LNG-fuelled ships owned by Saltchuk Resources-controlled Tote, which operates in the US cabotage trades protected by the US Jones Act.
The 2,200-cbm barge will be delivered in 2016. It will be outfitted with a Mark II Flex containment system by France’s Gaztransport & Technigaz (GTT). Conrad will build the containment system under a license deal with GTT. The price tag for the order was not revealed.

Housing and regeneration specialist Keepmoat has secured contracts worth more than £12 million in the North East including a £3.9 million contract with Newcastle City Council to build a mixed development of homes for private sale as well as social rented properties. Construction work will start at the development at Dinnington in June 2015 and will also include a £20 million scheme to build 133 homes for sale by Keepmoat Homes, alongside a 25-unit apartment block and five five bedroom dementia friendly bungalows, four Tyneside flats and two bungalows . Darlington Borough Council has also appointed Keepmoat to refurbish 184 roofs on properties in the Hundens Lane area of Darlington. Work on the six month contract will start in January 2015.
The £900k contract is part of a two-year framework with the possibility of an extension through to 2015/16.Keepmoat has also won two contracts worth £3.9 million with Thirteen Housing in Stockton. The contract will see Keepmoat deliver External Wall Insulation and Roofline works to 286 homes on the Hardwick and Tilery estates. The works which will start in November will also see Keepmoat carry out internal modernisations to some properties.

The Karaha power plant, is located in West Java, 1200m above sea level and is also a design, procurement and construction services contract to house the Alstom supplied power plant equipment as well as commissioning all above ground steamfield activities. The project will last around 23 months from January 2015.

The engineering company Uhde Inventa-Fischer has bagged a major contract from the Polish chemical group Grupa Azoty to build a polyamide 6 plant in Tarnow, Poland. The multiline plant will have a total capacity of 80,000 metric tonnes per year of polyamide 6 for film applications and engineering plastics.
The polymerisation plant will use Uhde Inventa-Fischer’s two-stage polyamide 6 process. The technological highlight of the plant will be the cost-effective, feedstock-saving Overproportional Refeeding Process (OPRP) developed by Uhde Inventa-Fischer. This process allows the caprolactam extract that accumulates on all production lines to be fed back to a single line and polymerised to high-quality polyamide 6. The overall design concept enables the plant to be integrated into the existing industrial complex, thus allowing the use of existing infrastructure as well as the direct supply of the caprolactam feedstock that is produced in Grupa Azoty’s plant. Uhde Inventa-Fischer’s scope of supplies includes the know-how license, basic engineering and supply of all equipment as well as supervision of the construction and commissioning activities.

The project is expected to be commissioned in 2018.

Transurban, which will own 50 per cent of the North West Roads Group which controls the NorthConnex project, has said that it has finished rubber stamping its paperwork for the project, which has a total cost of around $2.9bn. The NorthConnex project is a nine kilometre twin tunnel link from the southern end of the M1 Pacific Motorway at Wahroonga to the Hills M2 Motorway, at its existing Pennant Hills Road interchange. The federal and NSW governments have contributed around $800m to the project. Construction is planned to start in early 2015, with a view to completion by the end of 2019.

The dredging assignment in Andamans will involve an amount of Rs.26.1 crore. It will facilitate development of sea route. The dredging will clear a path for a depth of five metres and 200 metres width over a distance of 2 km. The work will be completed before onset of monsoon. The price for Daman and Diu project was estimated at Rs.150 crore. It will lead to introduction of passenger service between Mumbai and Diu and construction of a fishing harbour. The project will take three years for completion.

An interconnection transmission line will be constructed separately by the local utility. Inox Wind Ltd, a unit of Gujarat Fluorochemicals Ltd, has announced that it has been awarded two wind farm projects of 54 megawatts (MW) and 118MW in Gujarat and Rajasthan, respectively, by Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd, a subsidiary of Tata Power Ltd. The agreement requires Inox Wind to supply, erect and commission 86 units of its 2MW wind turbine generators. The Gujarat project, located near Rojmal village of Bhavnagar district, is to be completed by June, while the Rajasthan project located near the Dangri village of Jaisalmer district, is to be completed in two stages by March 2016. Inox Wind is responsible for site acquisition, project development, erection and commissioning, and also providing long-term operations and maintenance of wind power projects.

Construction firm D.M. Consunji Inc. (DMCI) has bagged the contract for the East extension of the Light Rail Transit-Line 2 (LRT-2), from the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC). According to DOTC, Consunji-led company was awarded the contract with a winning bid of P2.27 billion.
The extension project involves the construction of a 3.9-kilometer elevated viaduct for the LRT-2 East extension from the railway’s current end-station in Santolan in Pasig City to Masinag in Cainta, Rizal.
DMCI will have a period of 18 months to complete the civil works for the elevated viaduct.

Vattenfall is the largest owner and operator of onshore wind farms in Denmark. The company’s goal for the country is to add 250 MW of fresh wind capacity by 2018-2019.

The Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) Bids and Awards Committee issued Integrated Transport System (ITS) Southwest Terminal Project to MWM Terminals. The ITS South West Terminal Project involves the design, construction, operation and maintenance of a 2.9-hectare intermodal terminal structure at the Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA) property along Coastal Road in Parañaque City. The winning contractor, MWM Terminals, will build a passenger terminal building with arrival and departure bays, public information system, ticketing and baggage handling facilities and park-ride facilities as well as operate and maintain the facility for a period of 35 years. The company is aiming to sign the concession agreement by the fourth week of February 2015. MWM will have eight months from then to begin construction and another 18 months or until April 2017 to start operations.

Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations (ADCO) has also awarded a 215 million dirham contract to Target to construct a new management building and a civil defence station. Both contracts are expected to be completed in February 2016.

The new substations will be constructed at Polpitiya in the Central Province and Padukka near the capital, Colombo, in the Western Province, while the existing substation at Pannipitiya, a suburb of Colombo, will be augmented. The AC Energy Holdings, Inc. (AC Energy), the power arm of listed conglomerate Ayala Corp., already secured financing for the phased construction of a 4 x 135MW coal-fired power plant in Kauswagan, Lanao del Norte in Mindanao.The project, in total, was estimated to cost $1 billion and is expected to start construction in early 2015 and will be operational by 2017. The plant is being developed by GN Power Kauswagan Ltd. Co., a limited partnership among AC Energy, the Philippine Investment Alliance for Infrastructure (PINAI) fund, and Power Partners Ltd. Co. Aside from this project, AC Energy is also involved in the development of a 2 x 600MW power plant in Bataan beside the existing GN Power Mariveles plant, which is 17-percent owned by AC Energy. The new power plant has yet to achieve financial close, which is targeted this year.Meanwhile, the first unit of its 2 x 135 MW coal-fired power plant in Calaca, Batangas under South Luzon Thermal Energy Corp. A contract bid is being awarded to Teichert Construction in the amount of $16,014,592.40 for the Rosedale Highway Widening Project.The initial estimate for the project by TRIP engineers was for $15 million, which included a roadway widening and a water line installation for the City Water Department.
TRIP will appropriate $325,215 in federal earmark funds and $1,615,000 in local funds contributed by the County to account for the difference. According to TRIP, the project is funded with federal, local, and domestic water enterprise funds. The project will add a lane in each direction from Calloway Drive to 700′ feet east of Gibson Street. The project is expected to begin in spring 2015.

PT Waskita Karya has said that it has secured a loan of Rp 850 billion (US$68.12 million) from the Indonesian Export Financing Agency (LPEI), popularly known as Indonesia Eximbank, to finance its toll road project in Central Java. The loan would be allotted to the first stage of construction for a toll road connecting Pejagan in Brebes to Pemalang, both in Central Java. The Pejagan-Pemalang toll road will span about 57.5 kilometers, comprising four sections. The first stage of the construction, which connects Pejagan to East Brebes, will consist of two sections — the first will be 14.2 kilometers long and the second will be six kilometers. Total investment for the toll road is estimated to hit Rp 5.52 trillion, with the first stage projected to absorb Rp 2.34 trillion. The first stage of the construction will conclude in December 2015. The second stage, which comprises the third and fourth section will commence early in 2016 and to finish it by 2017.

Viridor UK selected B&W Vølund and its construction partner, Interserve, to design and build the plant. B&W Vølund’s scope accounts for more than two-thirds of the contract value and includes two WTE boilers, advanced DynaGrate® dynamic fuel combustion system, steam turbine and a dry flue gas cleaning system. The consortium also will test and commission the plant. The project was booked in the fourth quarter of 2014. Engineering is underway and the plant is scheduled to go online in the fourth quarter of 2017.

The solar park will provide energy under a 20-year power purchase agreement with state electricity company Enee. SunEdison expects to connect the plants to the national grid during the second half of next year. The US$146mn in financing is being provided by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), along with the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (Cabei) and the Opec Fund for International Development (Ofid). The IFC will provide direct financing for US$85.9mn while Cabei and Ofid will make available US$45mn and US$15mn, respectively.

Under the 30-year Build, Lease, Maintain and Transfer concession it won from the Ministry of Education (MoE) and University Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Zecon – through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Zecon Medicare Sdn Bhd – has 54 months to build and complete the 243-bed children’s hospital. Actual construction of the hospital will be undertaken by South Korea’s Hyundai Engineering Co Ltd, which was awarded the contract by Zecon. The children’s hospital will cover an area of about 115,749sqm, and will have wards for paediatric cancer treatment and bone marrow transplants, as well as areas for play therapy.
Site clearing has been completed and Hyundai Engineering is expected to take over the site soon.

The contract’s scope of work includes the design, fabrication, supply and erection of 10 pre-engineered buildings, spreading over an area of 23,557 square meters in Nghi Son, Thanh Hoa province, located in the southern region of Hanoi. The Nghi Son Refinery project is the largest greenfield refinery project to be constructed in Vietnam and one of the largest ongoing infrastructure projects in Southeast Asia. The Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical complex is being developed by a consortium of international companies, including PetroVietnam, Idemitsu Kosan, Kuwait Petroleum International and Mitsui Chemicals. The 400-hectare project, which is expected to cost $6.2 billion, will have a designed capacity of 200,000 barrels per day (bpd) of crude oil with the possibility to increase this capacity to 400,000 bpd. Construction began in October 2013, and the project is expected to enter commercial operation by early 2017.

The project is scheduled to commence operation by 2020 when it will become the world’s first gigawatt scale far from shore wind farm. The DCO covers the entire project, including the turbines, offshore and onshore substations, array cables and export cable.Project One is located 120km off the Yorkshire coast and covers approximately 407 square kilometres.

Hornsea Project One is being developed by SMartWind – a consortium of Mainstream Renewable Power and Siemens Financial Services – and DONG Energy. Malaysia secures RM11 billion projects in Bangladesh

The Malaysian infrastructure companies have secured almost RM11 billion worth of projects to date from Bangladesh. According to Special Envoy for Infrastructure to India and South Asia, S.Samy Vellu revealed that among these projects were the RM6 billion 1,320 MW power plant in Cox’s Bazar, RM2.3 billion apartment project in Dhaka, the supply of 400 passenger coaches for Bangladesh Railways worth RM700 million and a RM1.5 billion crude handling facilities project worth RM1.5 billion. The contract for the apartment project will be signed this month. The rest of the contracts are being negotiated and expected them to be finalized within a month or so.

A total 36 wind projects of nearly 926 MW obtained 20-year contracts with power distributors, with an average price of BRL 136 (USD 52.86/EUR 42.34) per MWh. The average sales price for hydro and biomass projects closed at BRL 161.89 and BRL 207.11 per MWh, under 30- and 25-year contracts, respectively, including 43.88 MW of hydroelectric and 611 MW of biomass plants.The 145-MW Itaocara hydro project, with a price of up to BRL 114 per MWh, did not attract contractors.The plants will be built in the states of Amazonas, Goias, Minas Gerais, Sao Paulo, Pernambuco, Rio Grande do Sul, Acre, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Piaui, Bahia, Rio Grande do Norte and Paraiba.All plants have to start supplies on January 1, 2019.

PRASARANA Malaysia Bhd (Prasarana) has won the bid to be the “shadow operator’’ for Phase One of the Mecca Public Transport Programme Metro (Mecca Metro) in Saudi Arabia. As the shadow operator, Prasarana will provide operations and maintenance consultancy services to the Makkah Mass Rail Transit Company during the construction of Phase One of Mecca Metro. The construction covers two lines with 22 stations and spans 45.1 km, including 24.9km of underground rail network. Prasarana would conduct preliminary and detailed design reviews for the project in addition to developing the operations and maintenance specifications and service agreements for the future contractor. The RM9 million consultancy services contract is expected to begin next month. Phase One of the Mecca Metro is expected to be commissioned by 2019.

Spain-based Gamesa has secured two wind turbine supply contracts, totaling 112MW, in China.
Under the first contract, awarded by China’s General Nuclear Power Group subsidiary CGN Wind Energy, Gamesa will supply of 32 G97 2MW turbines that will be installed at the 64MW Yangchajie wind complex in Yunnan province. The turbines are scheduled to be delivered by Gamesa in January 2015 and the wind farm is anticipated to be commissioned in March next year.

Gamesa will also supply 24 G97-2MW turbines that will be installed at Zhaojiasan wind farm in the province of Shanxi, western Peking, as part of the contract awarded by Everbright. Deliveries are scheduled in March 2015 and the wind farm is planned to be commissioned by May 2015.

McDermott International, Inc. has been awarded a three-year shallow water pipeline contract by Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn. Bhd. (BSP) to transport and install pipelines and umbilicals for the Champion and Ampa Fields offshore Brunei. Work is expected to be executed through 2017. The first scope of work consists of transportation and installation of more than 62 miles of pipelines including corrosion resistant alloy clad pipelines, as well as umbilicals and cables.

Honeywell bags Tupras refinery upgrade contract in Turkey

Honeywell Process Solutions has announced that it will upgrade controls at two refineries run by Turkey’s Tüpraş as part of a five-year service, maintenance and support contract. Under the terms of the agreement with Tüpraş, Honeywell will upgrade existing systems at its Aliaga refinery and provide maintenance, support and parts management for the Honeywell equipment to the same refinery and at the company’s refinery at Batman.

Capstone Turbine Secures C1000 Order to Upgrade Italian Pasta Factory in Sicily

Capstone Turbine Corporation has announced that it has received an order for a C1000 microturbine to upgrade a food manufacturing facility for Sicilian pasta maker Tomasello.IBT Group, Capstone’s Italian distributor, secured the order through Onda Energia, the local multi-utility energy service company (ESCO) in Sicily. The C1000 will be used to power and heat the facility as well as produce hot water for pasta production. The project is expected to be commissioned in early 2015.

Rays Power to set up 20 MW solar plant on dam in Maharashtra

Norway’s Scatec Solar secures $100m for Jordan PV

Norway-based Scatec Solar has secured $100m of finance to build three solar power projects in Jordan totalling 43MW.The PV plants are being developed jointly by Scatec and its Jordanian partners, Quest Energy Investment, European Jordanian Renewable Energy Projects and Greenland Alternative Energy.Scatec Solar will own 70% of the 10MW Oryx plant and 40% of the two other plants totalling 33MW capacity.Scatec will handle construction and provide operation and maintenance services when the plants are completed, which is scheduled for the second half of 2015.The output will be sold under a 20-year PPA with the National Electric Power Company.All plants are located near Ma’an City in southern Jordan.

HCC bags orders worth Rs. 635 cr

HCC Ltd has been awarded an order worth Rs. 454.89 crore by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highway for 4-laning of 50.5 km along the Numaligarh to Jorhat section of NH-37 in Assam. The project is part of the Special Accelerated Road Development Programme for North Eastern Region and includes rehabilitation, upgradation and augmentation of the existing carriageway. The company has also bagged an order worth Rs. 179.90 crore from the Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation for the balance works of the head race tunnel of the 111 MW Sawra Kuddu Hydel Power Project in Shimla

Aksh Optifibre wins Rs.102-cr Defence contract

Aksh Optifibre has won an order worth Rs.102 crore for supply of optical fibre cables (OFC) for the country’s Defence Network For Spectrum (NFS) project. The Defence NFS project consists of OFC routes totalling 57,015 km, which is divided into seven packages and is planned to be completed in 18 months. The project will be handled on a turnkey basis, intended for roll-out of a nationwide OFC network and will be owned and operated by the Defence Services under the Project Implementation Core Group of the Ministry of Defence.

Honghua Offshore secures drilling rig construction contract

Honghua Group announced that its subsidiary Honghua Offshore has entered into a contract with a subsidiary of Malaysian offshore service provider, Jas Marine for the construction of a semi-submersible mobile offshore drilling unit plus options to order three more. Jas Marine will contract Opus Offshore to supervise the construction of the rig. The price for the rig is $320m and it will be built at the company’s Qidong facility in Jiangsu.
