Airports Authority Of India is planning to construct no-frills airports in Arunachal Pradesh, Orissa, Rajasthan and Karnataka.

Status: Planning Stage

Promoter: Airports Authority Of India

Project: Plans to construct 5 no-frills airports

Location: Arunachal Pradesh, Orissa, Rajasthan and Karnataka.

Project Details: The airports will be built at Tezu in Arunachal Pradesh, Jharsuguda in Orissa, Krishna Nagar in Rajasthan and at Hubli and Belgaum in Karnataka. Each airport is estimated to cost Rs. 500 million. The authority has developed a model, which will provide essential services needed to operationalise the airports, without in any way compromising safety and security. This will result in low cost of operation and make it viable for the airlines with smaller aircraft to run their services. The airport will be built in the form of modules, which means a block can be added once there is increase in demand. The plan is to start services in these 5 locations during the current fiscal year, which is according to the plan approved in a meeting held in July 2014.
